Well I've settled down, cracked my knuckles and am ready to give a shot at my second fan fic.

Like it? Hate it? Let your opinion be heard through the art of read and review.

With that out of the way here is Chapter 1 of Lonerfrom the Future.

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha but Sano is MY character.

Chapter 1

Loner

Loner was really the only word to describe him. That's just the kind of person he'd been since his parents died in a fire when he was four. After that he'd ended up in the care of his mother's half-sister Lilly and her husband Drake.

They weren't really that bad or at least that's what he thought when he first moved in with them. He was still four then and to naive to know what their true intentions were.

After his sixth birthday he learned the truth when they 'accidentally' pushed him down a staircase. They had almost killed him but it was no accident. They wanted him dead and gone as fast as possible. It was after that he learned the truth, the truth that his parents had left behind a small fortune and a palatial estate in his name.

That catch was the assets and property were frozen until he turned eighteen or if he died. In that case the money and property would be handed over to his legal guardians to do with as they pleased.

For nine long years he had managed to elude their planes for his demise but as their time to gain the fortune drew short the planes grew more desperate. The most notable of which was when they had actually hired a contract killer, a swordsman by the name of Roichi.

Roichi had attempted to kill him during a sword fighting tournament. Luckily he was able to scrape through that thanks to the kendo skills taught to him by his master. Kendo was one of the few things his 'relations' had allowed him to indulge in and it had turned out to have saved his life.

He was able to knock Roichi unconscious by hitting him over the head with a metal chair after parrying a thrust.

He was sixteen now and had grown more cunning in his short life then most men can hope for in an entire life. He was Sano Kasukye, heir to the Kasukye fortune and had survived more attempts on his life then he could count.

At 6.5'and 150 lbs he was taller than most his age. He had brown hair with a slight tint of blonde to it and striking turquoise eyes. From pictures of his parents he had seen he stood a striking resemblance to his mother but had his fathers build.

The other thing he had in common with his parents was he had managed to inherit his mother stigmatism. As such he always had to wear glasses or he couldn't see clearly a foot away from him.

He didn't mind the glasses so much except for the fact that they were always breaking. It could have been from the numerous times he'd fallen flat on his face thanks to another attempt on his life or that he could never seem to keep them on his face.

They may have made life difficult sometimes but he wouldn't give them up for anything. He liked the aura they seemed to have about them and it just felt weird to not have them.

They have never brought him luck or for that matter friends in life but he liked them all the same.

Other then his glasses he had very few possessions. Only two pairs of clothes, one for school and one for anything else, a simple three speed electric blue bike that was pretty run down from age, and a few school supplies. But the one thing he cherished the most was a pocket watch he had received after his father's death. Emblazed on the cover was the strikingly real image of a great dog and imbedded at the 12 o'clock position was the fragment of pink jewel. His father said it had always given him luck and when the time was right it would give him luck to.

He lived smack dab in the middle of Tokyo and attend school not far from his home. He always did well in his classes and hardly ever got a grade below 95. That always puzzled him though, it's not like he really tried in school, he just always did well even if he didn't study.

Loner really did describe him in one word, he didn't even have any friends. All he did was go to school, sit by himself, work by himself, eat by himself, and leave by himself. There were plenty of rumors he had heard around about how weird he was but he really didn't give a damn what they thought because he had learned early on you can only trust yourself.

Even though he was a good fighter he always got the crap beat ought of him. It wasn't that he wanted to he just didn't care. He knew he was better then them and they probably knew it too. That's what he always thought and so that was why he was always on the receiving end of someone's fists.

Only one time in his entire life had anyone shown him kindness since his parents had died, her name was Kagome Higurashi.

It was just another day after school. He was being held up by two guys while another used his face as a punching bag. It's not like it hadn't happened before but he never quite got use to the impact.

As the blood began to drip from the his nose and the cuts that were starting to form on his face and obscure his vision a feminine voice cried out from behind him.

"Stop! What do you think your doing!" came the voice again as he fell to the ground with a dull thud.

"Hmph, well if isn't Higurashi" said one of the boys coolly. "Yeah, Higurashi" another piped in. "What do you want?" questioned the final boy with an air of authority, he seemed to be the leader.

"To know why you're beating up Sano!" the one they called Higurashi exclaimed.

"Oh, is that his name? Oh well, were done with our little 'punching bag' so you can have him" said the leader as he gave Sano a sharp kick in the ribs and began to walk away, the other two close behind.

"Are you okay?" Higurashi said soothingly as she helped him into a sitting position. "Yeah, I'm fi…" he began but was cut off as he hacked up a small amount of blood.

"I'm fine" he said shakily after his coughing fit had subsided and he began to wipe away the blood from his chin.

"No you're not. Now come on lets get you to the hospital" Higurashi said calmly as she helped him off the ground.

"That's nice of you but I'll be fine, I've been through worse" he said calmly as he began to dust himself off. "You really need to see a doctor" she said gently as she began to pull him towards the road.

"No really, I'm fine" he said in a slightly annoyed tone as he pulled his arm from her grip.

"Hmph, fine, go ahead and be all macho" she said coldly as she began to storm off.

After a few steps she yelled "Why do all the men I met have to act like they're invincible!" before storming off.

"What the hell was that about?" he questioned to himself as he watched her go before making his own way home.

The next day he made a point to stop her in the halls between classes. "Look, sorry about yesterday, it's just that I'm capable of taking care of myself after a fight." he sighed as he looked into her eyes.

"Didn't look like much of a fight to me" she said with a small giggle.

"Yeah, well, they never all" he laughed, something he could hardly remember doing. "Well, thanks again and if there's anything you ever need, just let me know" he said coolly before walking to his next class.

"I'll hold you to that!" she called out after him, he responded with a small flick of the wrist over his shoulder before jamming his hand into his pocket.

After that things didn't get any better, but they didn't get any worse. His life just sort of balanced out, oh sure, he still endured countless beatings but he didn't care. That one moment of kindness had shown him a new side of the world or rather a side of the world he hadn't known for many years.

"There, fuckin 'describe your life in one page' essay done, hope you choke on it Mr. Ramor" Sano scoffed as he roughly shoved his notebook back into his bag.

"When will they learn we hate writing unless we can chose the subject" he sighed as he swung his bag over his right shoulder. "Oh well, just goes to show how stupid people are…ha, this essay will probably earn me another month of detention for 'fabricating reality in order to gain attention' from the dean. Stupid bastard, he'll never realize this isn't a 'fabrication' as he calls it but the cold hard truth." He spat as he made his way for home or rather the living hell he was forced to endure.

"Well, wonder how they'll try and kill me tonight? Poison maybe, no wait, that was last week. They'll probably just try and drop a bookcase on me or something!" He laughed to himself as he made his way to the heart of Tokyo.

"Aw, but who cares. No one else seems to, so why should I? I mean it's not like anyone would really care…except…except maybe that Higurashi girl. Feh, who am I kidding, but, I don't intend to die anytime soon, at least not until I've paid her back" He said quietly as he kicked a can out of his path, rather harder than he had intend as he watched it ricochet off a street sign and into the street.

He stopped and watched as the can rolled around in the street, dodging car after car until finally being run over by a van. "Why can't I help but feel like that can represents my life?" He asked as he watched the can.

So transfixed was he that he didn't even realize that he was slowly sinking into the ground until it was too late. "Hey, what the hell!" He yelled as he tried to pull his foot from the sidewalk. Looking down he didn't see his feet, only his legs trailing off into the cold gray surface.

"Oh this is just great" he sighed until he realized he was sinking into the ground. "Oh this really is just great!" he exclaimed as he slowly slid down into the ground.

He tried desperately to stop from sinking but to no avail. His last glimpse of his world, the one he had known for and learned to hate in sixteen years, was that of the flattened can.

"Guess that can really was like my life" he thought sadly before sliding down into nothingness.

Okay, I realize there isn't much to this chapter but it served its purpose, to explain my new character. To bad it sat on my desktop for three weeks before I got the chance to finish it but oh well, couldn't be helped.
