"No...please, don't leave me!" I cried. I crouched down beside my mother, who was lying motionless on the ground. Her neck was torn open, blood gushing out and forming a pool of crimson on the stones. Her eyes flickered open, her mouth curling up into a weak smile.
"I'm so sorry, Moonpaw. I really am."
"No!" I yelled, anger rising inside me. "You're not sorry! If you were, you wouldn't leave me!"
Nightwish's eyes flashed with sadness. She held out a paw, pleading. I stared at her, my grief washed away by a wave of anger and hate.
"No, Nightwish. I thought you loved me, but obviously, I was wrong."
"Please, don't do this," Nightwish whispered, trying to lift her head off the blood stained ground. I backed away, watching her coldly.
"I can never forgive you for this."
Nightwish stared at me, her blue eyes filled with tears.
"No...," she pleaded.
I hesitated for a second, staring at my dying mother. No, I thought sternly. She doesn't love you anymore. Don't you see? She's leaving you...just like your father did. Shaking my head to clear my thoughts, I turned and raced away, back into the heat of battle, leaving the last piece of my life behind...forever.
