Daley sighed as she sat behind a rather large tree. She stared nervously at the camp knife she had dropped in front of herself. She reached out and started to shake as she gripped the handle with her right hand. One straight small cut. That's all she wanted.
She shakily brought the blade to her arm and started to fight back the tears that had filled her eyes so many times before. She swallowed hard, taking in a deep breath and shut her eyes tight as she slowly sliced a thin line across her arm.
She opened her eyes, dropping the blade and looked at her arm. The line was a lot larger than she had imagined or even intented. Something about looking at it made it hurt less. The burning of the blood trickling down the her arm made the teenager feel better.
Daley got up, grabbing the knife and went to clean it off in the well she and Eric had made weeks ago. She started cleaning off the blade when the realization sunk in. Her stomach churned and Daley leaned forward, throwing up.
She had cut herself.
