A/N This really isn't my best, but I really, really wanted to write some J&L fluff 'cause that's to mood I'm in. Feel free to tell me that I've missed out whole words or something, I'm kinda tired :') Clearly, I don't own anything. I hope you enjoy it anyway. ~MaryLouise1996

Christmas Colds

I sat down on the couch in the Room of Requirement and drank the lemon tea that had appeared on the table. Trust me to get ill right before Christmas.

It was only a cold. A cold that made my eyes sore and my nose block up and my throat burn. I felt too hot and my eyes drooped and I just wanted to sleep.

I pulled my school bag towards me and pulled my folder out of that and pulled the paper out of that. Removing my wand from the knot of hair high up on my head I tried to charm the paper to cut itself into pretty little snowflakes for the Yule Ball, but in my unfit state they just came out looking like cats. Pretty, sparkling cats.

I pulled a blanket around my shoulders and wished again that the school uniform consisted of flannel pyjamas and hoodies. That would be so much more comfortable than a fitted blouse and a skirt.

My eyes drooped again. If I wasn't careful I was going to fall asleep here. Would that really be such a bad thing? Probably not.

I felt cosy warmth wash over me and it eased my pounding head and I slid down until I was lying down on the wide, squashy sofa and I felt my eyes closing.

"Lily..? Lily?"

My eyelids fluttered open to find the deep brown eyes of James Potter staring back at me.

"Let's get you back to your dorm room, ok? Or do you need to see Madame Pomfrey?"

I shook my head. "S'only a cold."

I watched sleepily as he carefully put my things back into my bag, swung it over his shoulder and slid my wand into his pocket. As I stood up from the couch I was dimly aware of the fact that one of my long socks had fallen halfway down and that my uniform was rumpled. My hair had fallen from it's tie and was tumbling around my shoulders.

"Are you ok to walk? Or do you need me to carry you?"

I blinked at him uncomprehendingly for a minute, before spluttering; "Course I can walk!"

He shook his head with a small smile playing around his lips. "Wrong answer."

He put one arm around my waist and the other under my legs and picked me up as effortlessly as a kitten. Feeling too drained to argue I put my arms around his shoulders and buried my face in his neck as he left the room through a door that I hadn't noticed before.

We appeared a corridor away from the Gryffindor common room and we were through the portrait hole in no time. I felt James tense as he put one foot on the stairs up to the girls dormitories and then relax as nothing happened.

He nudged the door to my room open with his foot and Marley flew across the room at him.

"You found her! Where was she?"

He put me down gently on my bed and placed my wand on my bedside table. "Room of Requirement. Sleeping like a baby. I think she just needs a good long sleep."

I felt myself become ten times more comfortable as one of them wordlessly transfigured my uniform into lounge wear.

"Thanks James." Marley said softly. "I think I'll stay with her though, make sure she's alright."

"Alright. Sleep tight Lils. I'll get those snowflakes done for you."

I heard the door close quietly behind him and Marls came over and arranged the covers around me and stroked my head gently. One final thought drifted through my head before I fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.

That's the longest we've ever gone without fighting.
