Barbara Gordon focused her bright blue eyes on her favorite book and her back leaned against the oak tree bark. She was perched about ten feet in the air. It was free period, and while everyone else was goofing off or whatever, she was reading. To get away from the eighth-grade drama.
As her eyes glided from paragraph to paragraph, word to word, she seemed to melt into the book more and more each second. Petra, the main character, had just stolen back the crown and was on her way back through the mystical forest. As she visualized what Petra looked like, maybe light caramel hair with bright green eyes and tan skin, she was interuppted.
"Hey! Babs!" A boy's voice called from below. The wind picked up as Barbara groaned.
"Really, Bird Brain?" She snapped. He chuckled as Barbara shut her book and slid down the tree trunk. "What do you want?" The ginger girl huffed.
"Just wanted to hang out. Artemis and Bette are doing truth or dare with Jeffrey Hamilton and Mike Nawrocki and Peter Giles. I was watching." Dick informed his best friend.
Barbara grinned. "Of course you were, Dickie. Just the usual, spying on older girls to see if they will unbutton their blouse for yo-" Dick cupped his hand around Barbara's mouth, but Barbara touched his palm with her toungue. He pulled his hand away instinctively. "Eww!"
Barbara smirked as the two walked into the school building

Rain drizzled against the glass windows as Dick Grayson waited for the last bell to ring. He had patrol and homework and he had to walk home with his best red-head friend (One of). He ran his hand through his hair as the bell finally let out. He gathered his stuff and headed out the classroom door, went to his locker, put in the combo, and packed up. He shut his locker door and sped to the front of the school. He leaned his back against the building and pulled out his phone, randomly playing games and whatnot. "Hey, Dickie, let's go." A ginger girl demanded, crossing her arms. Dick looked up to see wavy orange hair, bright blue eyes, slender but muscular build. She had freckles sprinkled across her nose and olive skin. He got distracted for a second until Barbara shook her hand obnoxiously in front of the ebony's eyes. "Earth to Dick, let's go!" She said, clearly pissed. Dick nodded as he put his phone in his pocket and the two started towards home.
The rain started to pour harder when they got maybe five blocks from Barbara's apartment complex. Barbara shivered. Dick removed his Gotham Academy navy blue coat and held it above the two, his white shirt soaked and see-through. Barbara's cheeks reddened as she looked away, Dick not noticing anything. Her hair started to weigh down and her bag and clothes very wet. They made it home as Barbara opened the door but stopped and looked back at Dick. She placed her hand on his cheek and Dick felt his face go hot and beet-red. "Hey, thanks. For everything. And sorry for snapping at you numerous times, you know you are my favorite person." Her heartfelt compliment made Dick flush. She pecked his cheek and he started to go bonkers inside. All of his feelings towards Babs were always bottled up and she just kissed him on the cheek. He stood there like an idiot until Barbara waved and went inside. He would never forget it. Ever.
Short part, I know. Next chapter will be longer. I will probably extend it to five chapters though. Please rate and review, or post a haiku if desired.
