Amelia Pond opened her eyes. The tombstone that had had Rory's name on it wasn't there. In fact, the cemetery was much less crowded than it had been right before she blinked.
"Rory?" she cried, voice breaking. "Rory!"
Silence.
No, no, no. I need him. He has to be here.
"Rory!" she tried again.
Up on a hill, a lone figure stopped walking, and turned slowly.
"Amy?"
Amy let out a strangled scream of relief, excitement. "Rory!" She broken into a sprint, and he did the same, running to meet her.
They met in a violent embrace, holding each other through Amy's sobs and Rory's stoic attempts to be strong for her.
"Amy," he finally said, kissing her quick and hard on the lips, "what are you doing here? What if we had been sent different places?"
"No. That wasn't gonna happen. I knew I'd be with you. I had to be with you," she said, looking through tear-darkened lashes.
"But the Doctor…"
"Will be okay. River's still with him, and he'll be alright."
"I can't believe you followed me here."
She put her hands on the back of Rory's neck.
"Do you not remember what I said on that rooftop?"
Rory choked out a laugh, and smiled.
"Well, Mrs Williams, shall we?"
"After you, Mr Pond," she teased.
And together (or not at all), they set off on a new adventure. Not one with aliens and world-saving, but still one the Doctor would have been proud of.
