Her green eyes were wide with wonder as he takes her small hand in his. Leading the way out of the glass doors and onto the balcony overlooking the fancy rose garden of the Evan's Manor.
"Who are you?" it was barely a whisper but the question brought a grin to his face
"They call me The Doctor" He states fixing his bowtie which was a strange contrast to his leather jacket
"No they don't" She replies sceptically
"Oh but they do. Only tonight they called me Soul Eater as that's my undercover name"
"Why would you need an undercover name?"
"In order to find you"
"Me but why me? And why here?"
"Well for one everyone attends the Evan's ball."
"Okay but you still haven't told me why you need me"
"Will you come away with me?" His eyes are almost pleading
"Why?"
"Oh come on don't you dream of a life spent travelling just as your mother does."
"How do you know about my mother? And why the hell are you picking me"
"Because you are clever and not just the usual clever the clever that could keep up with a scientific conversation. Tell me Maka you are a scientist aren't you?"
"W-well yes I am but I don't know why you would want someone such as myself"
"But you're everything I was looking for"
"How so?"
"You're a scientist with a good girl's faith in a skirt that's a little too tight. Come away with me, come explore the universe and all of history and the future of the world"
"I'm really not what you want Soul or Doctor or whatever."
"And why not?"
"Because I don't matter"
"Maka nine hundred years of exploring the universe and I have never met anyone who doesn't matter"
Her hesitation was clearly written on her face.
"How do you travel?"
His eyes sparkled
"I've been waiting for you to ask" he grabs her hand leading her through the crowd out the front doors and to the side of the mansion
"Close your eyes" his excitement rivalled hers "open"
Talk about an anticlimax, he was showing her a blue police box.
"I should've known this was all some big joke"
"What no wait hold on Maka?"
He grabs her arm, unlocking the door of the police box and with a mighty struggle finally gets her inside. She stops fighting and stares in awe
"It's it's …." She runs four times around the outside before re-entering "its small on the outside"
The Doctor laughs, remembering a governess who had surprised him with the exact same reaction.
"So will you?"
"Huh?"
"Will you come away with me?"
She frowns as if she was constructing a list of pros and cons of running away. Soon a grin splits her face
"Of course I will come away with you…."
