Afterthought
By SMYGO4EVA

Miko knew that she was different. She was everything her family wasn't. She was outspoken, ever the curious one, and jumped at the chance of excitement - nothing like her parents back in Tokyo.

She misses the warmth of her family, her two cats, her friends back at her old school, but the atmosphere of the Autobot Base reminds her of it a little. Her old school had that sometimes, but most of the time they're too quiet, where Miko needed noise, needed sound and music not coming from a stuffy old piano. Without sound or noise, if it was too quiet for too long, she would go crazy. It would remind her too much for the boring days of piano lessons and the life she wanted to escape from in the first place.

It wasn't as though she had broken off contact from her parents entirely - her host parents were already intimidated by her, with her new brashness and mischievous personality being unpredictable enough. She would write letters from time to time, making sure that the details of her adventures with the Autobots, Jack, Raf, and especially Bulkhead were slim and non-revealing as possible. She wouldn't want to spill the beans about that huge secret; she knew that she could be reckless at times, but never enough to reveal anything of the sort. It would only be an afterthought left untouched for, and especially when she goes back home for the summer.

When Miko would finally go home, back to her parents, her friends, and back to the mundane life in Tokyo for the summer, she would miss Jasper a lot more than she would ever care to admit.
