Timeline: none

Spoilers: not really

So here he was – the so-called genius, the youngest state alchemist ever. The one everyone was talking about, partially in awe because he was oh so young and partially in envy because he earned more than most men who had served longer.

She did not take part in the gossiping about Edward Elric because she had seen this before. She had passed her test half a year after Roy Mustang who had been the youngest state alchemist then and she had been pretty young as well. The three of them had been oddities – she because of her gender, Mustang because of his power and Elric because of his youth. They had been in the centre of attention for weeks and they would be there until someone else, someone even more exotic would arrive and take their crowns.

She did not mind.

She was not like Mustang who had arrived to EastCity with the haunting fame of Ishbal or like Elric – was the guy actually serious? No twelve-year-old child should play this game in her opinion because it was something he could only got hurt by playing.

She was not like them. She was chasing neither fortune nor fame. She was here to improve her own skills and did not care particularly about her peers. If they needed big cars and front row seats wherever they were, well, she would not say anything against them. She was doing her job because in the end, it was no big difference whether she worked in a normal hospital or in a military one. She did not need fancy weekend houses at lakes.

She was happy like this.

Roy Mustang had seen her only a few times, a slim woman in a white lab coat, always handling a coffee mug and more files than a normal person should be able to carry at once. But she had somehow managed and disappeared into hospital laboratories where he was not allowed. He had never talked with her even though he had wanted to. Among their peers, she was not the most famous but due to her gender, still pretty known.

The others said that she had been lucky, no field duty for her in the war, only patching up the injured soldiers of their side. If there was someone innocent among them, it would be her but then again, how felt the person who had healed Kimblee after he had nearly bled to death?

The talk about her was confusing for Roy because in the end, she had been just another pretty tool for the higher ups to wreck havoc in Ishbal.

Edward Elric never met her and so she never smashed her file onto his head and ordered him to sit back down because even for the military's golden buy, a medical check-up once a year was obligatory and she would make sure that he would do his properly.

He would never give in to her and he would never think that if had been Mustang or someone else (but Hawkeye because she was scary), he would have tried to pick a fight and tried to get out of it like this but that she was not the kind of person he would ever pick a fight with because she would win it anyway.

He had only rumours about her, the strict mistress of the WesternMilitaryHospital – the hospital people left either healthy or dead. She was often compared to Major General Armstrong up at Briggs but then again, to lead the western military hospital a certain strength was necessary … but he never had met her and he never would meet her because she had disappeared. One day, she had simply not arrived for work and when the commander of the western area had issued an investigation, it had ended with any sort of result. And this was what Edward found scary. She had been seen after the Promised Day and therefore she could not have been killed by the homunculi for one reason or another.

She was gone.

And thus, she was a legend.
