The lab was empty, save for a single light shining, a cracking chair echoed off the walls eerily.

Rodney worked late into the night as normal, the glow off his laptop cast deep shadows across his drawn face, he typed for a few more moments, but as he read over the equations he reached for his coffee, but with his mind set on work he missed judged, he snapped his head up when he heard the deep thumped bounce off the walls. He pushed his chair along the length of the desk and looked over the rim, he reached down and pick up the item.

As he brought the item eye level he found himself steering, he gentle placed the item back on his desk, while a sorrowful smile creped over his face. He stood up and left the office.

Weeks had passed on Atlantis and spirits were low, none more so then Rodney, news had spread that earth were cutting contact to protected them all from any danger.

Rodney rushed out onto the balcony he gripped the railing tight, breathing shakily he looked to his hands, he turned his face into the star filled night, eyes watering, breathing faster, the wind whipped his face pushing heartbroken tears, sobs quietly passed his lips growing louder till only anguish criers burst over the wailing wind filling the halls, all hearts sank at the agony.

He sank to his knees, hands never reliving their grip, burning tears fell, grabbed by the howling wind.

The other bowed their head in sorrow, some shading tears, but all eyes snapped to the gate as it sounds its charms.

A single figure emerged from the calm pool silhouetted from its glow; their head turned in hearing of the criers, rushing in shock. The hissing of the door went unheard by the grieving Rodney.

The wind whipped over his face ripping the falling tears away, his breathing rapid, and knuckles white, nothing stopped his pain, throat sore and voice raw stopped all sound, but tears flowed unhindered, warmth began to seep onto frozen hands, a whisper lost on the wind,

Rodney lifted his fog filled head from off his chest, the warmth growing, the wind breaks, a hushed voice breaths, "Dad" he brings his eyes up from the frozen metal floor; eyes unfocused, he blinks casting the last of the sorrowful tear away, all was gray, the ancient city allowed light to illuminate the crouching figure.

"Dad" gentle whisper carried by the breeze filled his numb ears, he looked into worried filled eye, he knew those eyes, another whisper filled his ears, "I'm home" he slowly released the rail, hand stiff; reaching forward to touch hearted skin, tears began to build but a smile broke his drawn face, he sat up and embraced the figure tightly, tears began flowing,

"Your here, your home, you're really home..."

A breathless laugh left her lips, "Yes Daddy I'm home, I'm really home" she looked to the star filled night with a smile, a single tear escaped, "Daddy" she closed her eyes, tighten the embrace

They both embraced each other tightly after 15 years of being apart; Joyous tears fell down grinning cheeks.
