Al enjoys watching the green leaves of summer gradually shift to their transitory autumn coloring, only to wither into nothing as winter takes possession of life, leaving only bare branches of trees in the bitter cold.

Every now and then, as their sweat-soaked bodies lay against one another, their limbs entwined as they experienced the after pleasure glow that sexual foreplay brought--it seems as if they could truly be in love, but as that ever familiar name tumbles out of Roy's mouth in a low groan, Al knows that he is truly his transient lover. He is like an autumn leaf, something beautiful to gaze at and examine, but short-lived and quickly forgotten as time moves by.
Sometimes he still wishes that the name "Alphonse" could replace "Edward" as they lay in bed.
