Marble Effect

The sparkle of Dean's eyes in the firelight betrayed his location within the cavern. Castiel's sigh of relief turned to frustration on noting the hunter's condition.

He was careful not to turn at the dry, hissing, rustling sound that announced the arrival of the cave's other inhabitant. "Release him," he ordered.

"I don't see hear complaining," laughed the creature from behind him with a cruel, feminine voice. "Besides, as one immortal to another, don't you think he'll last longer this way?"

A quick flick of Castiel's sword sent the monstrous head flying safely out of sight, the hair-like snakes continuing to writhe for several minutes more.

He wrapped his arms around Dean, struggling to find a firm grip on the smooth marble, before lifting his friend with a slight grunt of effort.

He'd worry about transforming Dean back later, for now he just needed to concentrate on not chipping him.

"Your brother's stoned. It'll take a while to wear off," intoned Castiel, before vanishing.

Sam's exasperation turned to concern on seeing the marble figure in the library. Although, his anxiety did lessen on realizing he could now talk without interruption. Turns out, as a sculpture Dean was actually a pretty good listener.

Plus, statues don't use all the hot water... or the beer.

Sam did struggle to maintain his house-proud brother's usual standards, but even there Dean had his uses.

He was almost disappointed on noticing Dean's color return.

Dean spluttered in outrage. "You used me as a coat stand!"
