My first fic for fruits basket. It seemed like a good story when I wrote it, but I don't know anymore. Tell me what you think...

"The Elements"

Yuki's POV

Like fire. Brilliant sweltering heat. His hair is like spun silk, like liquid sunlight, like a bleeding sunset. A shower of burning raindrops could be seen in his eyes and I'm sure that if he cried, they would drip blood. His touch, like fire. Every time he touches me, I feel the graze of Lleu, the sun-god himself. Every time he looks at me, I feel the scorch of a shadeless, waterless desert. His spirit is like a candle-flame, dancing and swooning from it's own beauty. He is my heat, my shelter, my Lleu. If he only knew.

Kyo's POV

Like water. Cold serene wave. His hair is like the dusk, like the sea, like a midnight wildflower. A storm of winds and sharp former mornings could be seen in his eyes and I truly believe that if he cried, they would drip tiny gems and pearls. His touch, like water. When he touches me, I feel the endearment of Poseidon, the water-god himself. Every time he looks at me, I feel the depths of the very sea, the calm of the deepest dark. His spirit is so ageless, so immortal, that the earth itself is at envy. He is my calm, my life-bringer, my Poseidon. If only he knew.

"What are you looking at, Yuki?" Kyo snapped. The violet-eyed teen sighed deeply.

"Nothing at all, considering," Yuki replied, yet Kyo only mirrored his sigh. Both were sitting on a secluded beach since daybreak. Now, the sun was slowly setting, yet the two haven't made any move to go home. Not yet. The sun burned scarlet-red as it set, caressing the water, turning it aureate. The ocean shimmered as if littered with diamonds and crowned in gold and topaz. It's arms caressed the two boy's feet that were stretched out in front of them. The soft lapping of the waves seemed to fill eternity.

"They're so different, the sun and ocean," Yuki remarked. "Yet at one point, they meet as the sun descends. They meet and meld before the both of them are gone from sight. It's funny," Yuki said, yet knowing there was nothing humorous about it. Kyo looked long and hard into the distance, then spoke.

"I suppose since the elements have to co-exist in the same world, they learned to get along."

"Sorta like us."

"Sorta." Kyo's gaze settled on Yuki's form, lean and graceful. His own feline body moved cattily as he crawled closer to gaze into a pair of tinted eyes. Kyo slowly moved forward and eventually, two pairs of rosebud lips met. Their eyes remained open, the static electricity crackling between them, as their lips danced against each other. Yuki felt a burning against his skin, growing and passionate. And Kyo felt a serene coolness, focused and intense. Both boys fell back into the sand, not knowing how it happened and not caring either. Both shirts were off and the rest of the garments soon followed. Kyo sank into Yuki's body and the same dance continued, feeling eachother's elements, seeing each other's gods'.

Darkness fell and covered them in their moment of release and they echoed each other's cries to the stars, the moon, the earth, and the wind. The music had slowly faded and Yuki and Kyo found themselves in each other's arms, excited and calmed at the same time.

The time for words was long past and the rhythm of both hearts beat in harmony. Only starlight now bathed the two demi-deities, god-reincarnates, and threw the ocean into darkness.

Their lips found each other in the dark again and they gifted each other with their sacred passion. With their elements hidden from view, Yuki no longer cold against Kyo, and Kyo no longer burning against Yuki, both boys shared one spirit, one soul, one love.
