Dawn broke as the Night Rider rode on

In one hand the reins and the other a gun

Forever young, as to time he's bound

'Cause he knew God's never gonna cut him down

Got him a horse that he called Cash

He was a wild thing, and boy he was fast

And that old horse, Cash, his steed of pride

Was forever rode 'till the day he died

Anger the Rider and you're in for a suprise

Shoot you down while you flee in the night

He won't stick around to watch your blood flow black

'Cause the Rider knew that you ain't comin' back

He wasn't an evil man, but just a cold soul

He would make you his friend, before he buried you in a hole

But if you don't give him his money then tell him well

Why he shouldn't send you to the depths of Hell

But that Night Rider, that heart of stone

Had him a fear that everyone had known

Frightened of the gallows where he watched them old men hang

Made him thank God he wasn't in their Gang

So run on for a long time, he did, from the dead-end law

Can't count the times he escaped the Sheriff's claw

It was out to get him since the day he was born

And it's not gonna stop 'till his heart is torn

One night them daemons came to his room

They thought they were sending him to his doom

But on he ran out of that ghost town

'Cause today God wasn't gonna cut him down

And along his way until he saw Jack wet with the morning dew

He said, "Good God, let me tell you the news!

A week ago Bill found Ginny and shot her down

Her body's restin' in the ground!"

Fires blazed in the Rider's eye

Anyone to kill his only daughter deserves to die

With revenge in his soul, he went looking for a fight

Tonight he'll hunt down for what is right

Sure enough, he found Back-Biting Bill

Resting under a willow on top of the hill

Gun in hand, the Rider aimed to kill

Never waking, the back biter burned in Hell

Sorrow never crossed the Rider's mind

And all regret was behind

Life is yours, use it the way it was found

Or God may even cut you down

That night he prayed at the fire

Prayed for death, though he was damned as a Ghost Rider

Jack asked, "Was losing Ginny worth fighting the law?"

But before he could anwser, he was attacked by the Sheriff's claw

Those daemons caught him earlier tonight

He faced the gallows, all right

Never again did the Night Rider shoot a living man down

'Cause everybody knows God's gonna cut you down
