BLINDING DARKNESS
Prologue
Blood!
The intoxicating scent was everywhere in this dark abyss. Shadows danced to a mysterious rhythm none could interpret, chasing one another back and forth in a never ending evening.
A fleeting glimpse of a slash like lightning illuminated the blackness for a split second, revealing bodies drowning in their own blood, others falling with shrieks of anguish.
The shadows seemed to cower down as something hurtled through the air with a whistle before thudding into the reddened mud with a loud squelch. There was a series of slicing light that appeared again and the object that had flown through the still, heavy air was revealed to be a sword, the blade gleaming half embedded in the ground.
It remained there, motionless and solitary.
Then, it was suddenly swallowed from view as the shadows leapt forth, clawing at all remaining light.
Then, twin orbs opened, revealing crimson eyes that lusted for blood, and blue pupils that lacked any soul.
A growl broke the eerie silence, coming from the direction of the eyes that glared unblinkingly. Those eyes were blind, everything was veiled in a red haze through them.
An unexpected flare of white...or was it perhaps silver, erupted....obscuring everything, the ferocious eyes and hungering darkness....
Kagome shot up, dark eyes dilating in fear. She whipped her head around to see the normal night setup.
A fire was slowly diminishing, embers hopping up occasionally. On one side was Sango accompanied by Kirara and Shippo curled together. Opposite them from the charring wood was Miroku, shakujou close at hand. And of course...Kagome could not see him, but she knew he was up in one of those trees....somewhere.
Kagome let out a slow sigh, letting the images from the nightmare flicker through her mind.
What could it mean? Those eyes...however, were the most frightening...and all too familiar.
She just hoped that this dark vision would not occur......
I admit, it's short, but it's only a prologue...and it's a bit dark I think. ^^;
Tell me what you think in a review please!
