Ethan Tran

I nervously stood outside the double doors as I waited to be called in. I had joined the regiment a little bit late, so I was going to have to talk in front of a big crowd. "Hey kid." I looked up as a head popped out the doors. "You're up." I weakly nodded and entered the mess hall. Thousands of heads turned as I entered the room. I walked swiftly to the front and stood next to the commandant as he talked to the other trainees. "Listen up maggots, we have a new solider among us." He motioned me to step up and introduce myself. I took a deep breath, put on a fierce expression, saluted, and yelled, "My name is Ethan Tran! I live in the Trost region and the reason I joined is so I can join the survey corps and one day be even better than Captain Levi!" the crowd murmured at my almost-impossible goal. Then the commandant appeared right in my face and yelled, "Well, YOU'RE not going to get anywhere near Captain Levi's rank if you only talk!" I slammed my forehead on his, "WELL, I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THAT. ALL I CARE ABOUT IS GOING THROUGH A HELLISH TRAINING SO I CAN KILL THEM ALL!" I yelled even louder. The room was silent with shock and surprise: no one dared to talk back to the commander and get away with it. "I LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE!" "THANK YOU, SIR!" we stopped and firmly shook each other's hand and everyone moved to get out of the mess hall. I walked out of the building and onto the court yard. The other trainees started sparring with each other. I looked around and saw a bored trainee lean against the wall, watching me. Then she walked toward me, my heart leapt to my throat. "Maybe she wants to spare with me?" I thought as I walked toward her. "Hi, I'm-"I got no further as she threw a kick at me. I blocked it by throwing up one arm and stopped the kick before it got any further. I winced as my arm absorbed the impact, "S-s-so…. Quick… and heavy." I thought as I threw her leg aside and threw a right punch. "BOOM!" my punch shot out like a lightning bolt and struck her in the face like brick to the face. She flew back and landed on her back. "Oh, my-!" I ran over to her and sat her up. "Hey! Are you ok? I didn't mean to do it that hard!" I looked up as the trainees looked on and some stepped forward, wanting to challenge me. "Oh, crap." I thought, as they advanced toward me.
