The 10 truths of Kahlan Amnell
1)
Kahan is a beautiful woman, and she knows it too. Not in a vain, arrogant sort of way, but she has enough male (and female) attention to know how attractive people find her. But Kahlan is also a smart woman, and a powerful one, and sometimes people forget this.
2)
The Mother Confessor is also a woman. People see the robes, hear of her power and they respect, and they fear, but they do not understand. Kahlan has always been tactile by nature, and there is little more soul destroying than a Father who fears the embrace of his child.
3)
It is for these reasons, and so many more, that Kahlan Amnell is in love with Richard Cypher. He sees the Confessor and the woman, he recognises her beauty but never underestimates her intelligence and, most importantly, he sees her soul for all that it is.
4)
But in spite of all this Kahlan was raised as a confessor and she, like many other confessors, discovered the benefits of sapphic relations in a world where to touch is to condemn. Confessors and Mord'Sith have this in common.
5)
It is this experience, as well as an innate desire she is sure has been bred into her bloodline, that causes Kahlan's eye wander from time to time. And in spite of her love for Richard, Kahlan can't help the heat that rises within her when her eyes catch sight of cool, crimson curves wrapped in leather.
6)
Opposites attract, and while Kahlan Amnell does not love Cara Mason, not, at least, in the same way she loves Richard, she does desire her, and that is something completely different. It may even, in this instance, be something better. While Richard understands love, Cara understands lust better than anyone else Kahlan knows.
7)
Richard is a gentleman, and Kahlan loves that about him. But sometimes she doesn't need him to treat her like the china doll they both know she isn't. He's only being chivalrous, and if she said something he'd change for her, she knows he would. But Kahlan is too kind to do anything, and so she delights in Cara's attentions instead, which are imposed with just the right amount of force. Sometimes Kahlan thinks Cara is her guilt pleasure.
8)
Kahlan will never act on either her feelings for Richard or her desire for Cara. Richard would never be the same, after all, and Cara... sometimes she can't even think about it. Because Cara is rough around the edges, and sardonic and more than a little insensitive at times, but Kalhan has grown too attached to the former Mord'Sith, and cannot imagine a day without her anymore. Confessors, after all, are creatures of love, and The Mother Confessor may know lust, but the boundaries (Hate/ Love/Lust) are blurring and sometimes all she knows is want.
9)
Kahlan has never, ever, been attracted to Zeddicus Zul Zorrander. Ever. It's something of a relief actually because, obvious physical detractions aside, between Richard and Cara Kahlan was starting to think of her heart as somewhat whoreish. The Mother Confessor will not allow any part of herself to be a whore.
10)
Sometimes, and only sometimes, Kahlan wishes she was a Mord'Sith instead. It is the least frequent of her desires, and the one she most hates herself for possessing, but it's there. People fear a Confessor's power, and while many come to adore The Mother Confessor, Kahlan sometimes feels like she would swap that love for a Mord'Sith's freedom to touch. After all, the fear is present either way. Kahlan envies Cara both Dahlia's soft moans and the nights the former Mord'Sith creeps down into local towns, but keeps to herself the opinion that, given the chance, she would trade Cara's limited ability to feel for her own.
