A/N: I wrote this out of the dummest little thing: spotting Gibbs wearing a silver harringbone bracelet while he was interrogating Jason Edom. It just took me by surprise. Unbetaed so all mistakes are my own. Constructive feedback is always welcome. If you don't know the definition of constructive, please pass.
In her lab after he was done shooting the bad guy in the ass, the glimmer was so slight she almost missed it. "Gibbs! You wear a bracelet!" Abby exclaimed as she grabbed Gibbs' wrist. "That is so cool!" The warmth of his hand rested in hers and she ignored the flutter it caused. "Not usually concerned with 'cool', Abs."
"Well, yeah. But it's a nice side effect," Abby ran her hands over his, resting her fingers on the outside while her thumbs caressed circles inside of his wrist.
"Abs," Gibbs breathed.
"Yea Gibbs," Abby inhaled and somehow managed to pull him innocently closer without feeling so innocent. "It's just so very metro-sexual of you, very progressive, very attractive... a man who will don a piece of jewlery. Especially for a Marine, I would imagine," her breath stopped coming.
For the slightest moment, she thought she had misread the energy perculating around them. It was a feeling she was used to ignoring, stuffing inside when he left her lab. But today had been such an emotional day already. Her defences were worn down. She didn't have anything left in her to fight.
"I spent the night tracking..."
"I know, Gibbs. It's okay," she paused.
"You were upset with me."
"I just missed you was all."
"I didn't forget."
"I know."
"I got you a present."
"I know, and it's... it's perfect."
Abby looked down at her hands that still held his. There was no getting closer to him without his arms being around her. And wow she wanted closer. She blinked ever-so-slowly, closing her eyelids to see if she might find some courage there.
"Abbs."
"Yea, Gibbs." She willed her eyes to open. She just couldn't.
And with that she was enfolded in his arms, her giggle involuntary as she found herself spinning around. They came to a stop, her toes resting on his... and he wasn't letting her loose from his grip.
"Can I have the 'night of' instead of the 'night before' next year?"
"You can have that this year, if you want."
His hands tightened around her waist again. Her eyes open now found his already eyeing her.
"You sure?"
"Oh yea."
The sweetest, most gentle and tender kiss landed on her lips, as her eyes slipped shut ever-so-briefly once more. Thank goodness the case was over she thought as she opened her eyes again. Waiting for him to speak seemed to take forever. But he didn't disappoint. He took her hand and led her around her lab to shut down what was absolutely necessary before making it out the door to the elevator.
"Then let's go."
