I rummaged through the pile of steel, looking for the perfect piece. I've been working on this darn railroad all day and couldn't find one part of flawless steel.
Then, when I gave up hope, my favorite tune popped in my head.
I've been working on the railroad
All the livelong day
I've been working on the railroad
Just to pass the time away
I started swaying to the beat, unknowingly. My eyes closed as I stood there in movement.
THE NEXT DAY
I was startled awake by the horn on the train booming through the town.
Can't you hear the whistle blowing
Rise up so early in the morn
Can't you hear the captain shouting
Dinah, blow your horn
Next, Caption Missypoo's voice rang through my ears. "Blow your horn, Dinah!" She shouted.
I shot up from my bed like a missal, sprinting to window. I looked down at my white and blue striped pajamas and matching cap. Oh well, neither me nor Missypoo cared if I looked like a complete moron. I, myself thought I looked pretty snazzy.
When I reached the window, I waved quickly at the passing train.
Dinah, won't you blow
Dinah, won't you blow
Dinah, won't you blow your horn
Dinah, won't you blow
Dinah, won't you blow
Dinah, won't you blow your horn
Missypoo saw me and smiled back, tilting her head back; the signature way of saying 'what up' in gangsta terms. She honked the horn at me and the beep filled my ears, eagerly. Ah, my favorite harmony in the morning.
After the train was no longer in sight I started getting ready for my brutal day at the railroad track.
I walked into the kitchen, trying to decide what I wanted for breakfast. My eyes widen as I saw the sight in front of me.
Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah
Someone's in the kitchen I know
Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah
Strumming on the old banjo
There was Maddy! In the kitchen with Dinah! And Missypoo!
Maddy was playing the banjo. She's a very talented young lady. And then there was Missypoo... the engineer train driver person. She was dancing doing the big beat boogie.
And Dinah was sitting there clapping her hands to the beat.
Suddenly work wasn't important to me. Today I decided I was going to stay home and spend some time with old friends.
Fie, fi, fiddly i o
Fie, fi, fiddly i o
Fie, fi, fiddly i o
Strumming on the old banjo
