The Nice Thing
Gary Oak rarely did nice things; the word 'nice' wasn't exactly in his profile. If one were to describe Gary, one would never think to say that the growing popular Pokemon Professor is nice. He preferred to be untouched by anything, too self absorbed to notice what is going on with anybody else. But Ash Ketchum with his shivering and attempts to rub his hands together to stay warm was hard to ignore.
The two were silent as they were headed towards Professor Oaks Lab as Pikachu stayed snug in Ash's hoodie, unaware of the trainers problem. It's the middle of January and it was cold, pretty freezing actually. One that's lived in Pallet Town all their lives would definitely be prepared for such weather, Gary snorted his eyes at the thought. 'Not Ash Ketchum, of course...'
Gary was surprised that Ash didn't start on whining about how cold he was, demanding to take Gary's gloves claiming that it would be his fault for not reminding the trainer to bring his gloves. But instead, he just kept walking faster, in high hopes to arrive to the Labratory soon.
Gary rolled his eyes, tugging off his gloves and slapped them into his face, just to show that he didn't care. Ash grabbed at whatever slapped his face, turning to Gary about ready to shout. Then he noticed there were Gary's gloves in his hand, he stared up at him in confusion as Gary kept walking. Furrowing his brow, he put on the gloves, catching up with Gary.
"Now I'll have to wash them," Gary muttered, stuffing his hands into his winter jacket.
When he didn't get a snappy comeback right away, he turned to see him. He was surprised to see Ash grinning at him, with his cold bitten cheeks, making it look like he was blushing. Catching up to Gary he shoved him playfully before walking ahead.
He didn't let Ash see it, but he smiled to himself in satisfaction. Being nice wasn't so bad afterall.
