Rose Weasley walked down to the Great Hall with her baby brother, concealing her exhaustion like she had for going on 5 years now. Her late-night meet-up with Scorpius had gone later than either of them had anticipated, though they were just talking. When they were together time seemed to fly by faster than any post owl could carry even the smallest of letters. She sat down next to her brother at the Gryffindor table, facing the Slytherin table across the Hall.

Scorpius came in, and, she knew, took note of where she was sitting so that he could sit in the exact spot at the Slytherin table, Theodore Nott's son Anthony sitting next to him, mirroring Hugo's position. "He's been doing that for the past few months. Anthony, I mean," she mused to herself. "Might have to ask Hugh about him," her train of thought continued.

"Hey Rose?" Rose turned her head to face her brother.

"Yeah Hugh?"

"Don't look now, but I think Malfoy's coming over here."

"What!?" Sure enough, when Rose spun her head around, Scorpius was making his way to her seat, drawing more and more attention the closer he got to the Gryffindor table. When he got to her, he sat down casually on her other side, grinning like he did this every morning. "Malfoy," she hissed at him, "What do you think you're doing!? Our fathers would kill us if they knew! You KNOW that!"

Scorpius shrugged one shoulder. "The way I figure it, baby, is that our mums are smart enough to keep them from getting too out of hand. Besides, neither of our dads will stand in the way of our happiness." Rose scowled and turned away from him and back to her brother. A few seconds trickled by.

"Hey Rose?" Scorpius this time, not her baby brother.

"What?" she snapped, unmoving.

"I know you're terrified of what people will think. But the way I see it is that if they want to blame me for the things my father did when he was 16 and scared for his life and his family's lives, then forget about them." Scorpius' voice was clear and carried well, but thick with emotion. "Rose, I love you. I know you've heard me say that a lot since our fourth year, but I've never meant it any less each time, and this has my heart behind it. You know I've always been yours, and I know you've always been mine, for five years on Friday. So . . . love, please look at me for this." Rose turned to face him and inhaled sharply. Because Scorpius was on one knee in front of her, his silver eyes shining with unspeakable love and absolute devotion. Her right hand flew to cover her mouth, and her left hand went to join it, but Scorpius caught it in his own, holding the ring box with his other.

"Oh . . . Scorpius . . ."

"So . . . Rose Minerva Weasley . . . I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Because I had to spend thirteen years of it without you, and I never want to do that again. So, my Rose, will you marry me?" As the last words fell from his lips, Rose realized that the entire Hall had fallen silent, waiting with held breath for her answer.

Rose removed her hand from her mouth and set it in her lap. "Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, I cannot believe you doing this right now! You know I'm exhausted! But . . . yes. Yes, yes, yes, a million times yes!" Tears of joy fell from her eyes as Scorpius straightened up enough to slide the silver ring with a single topaz on it onto her hand before pulling her into his arms.

The entire Hall was silent until Headmistress McGonagall turned to Professor Flitwick and said, "I believe that is 10 Galleons to me." And everything erupted into chaos, with Rose and Scorpius in the center of it all, laughing.
