Seriously? What the hell was my daughter thinking when she brought him here? Did she think I'd be impressed? I raised her better then that! I can't believe she is going to actually marry that guy.
Since high school, she's always been drawn to older men. What was the name of that teacher she had in high school? Mr. Anderson, was it? And she always watched that MacGyver show drooling over how well he could do everything. I thought she had a crush on him. I'll admit, I thought it was weird. Not just a little weird, but borderline creepy. But now I can see why. I mean Pete Shanahan? What kind of name is that? He doesn't respect her at all, not to mention his elders. I can break him with my eyes closed. Hell, my daughter could break him with her eyes closed.
And what was the "do you really have one of those things in your head" comment all about? Talk about making a Tok'ra feel awkward, man!
I pictured her with someone stronger who can protect her. She won't admit it, but she needs some protecting these days. Someone more like me. Faster, willing to die, but with a brain. Hopefully he can make her laugh too. Laughter has become scarce.
Okay, yes, I just described her CO. But what the hey! I actually like him. That's saying a lot coming from me. I was a General in the Air Force essentially and I am practically wishing that they would marry. I know the regs better than anyone and I know they are getting in the way, but I can't help it. They're just so darn cute together. And I really don't mind it when he calls me Dad. It should have irked me the first time he said it, but nope. It was actually kind of funny. Pete on the other hand... that irked me.
Still, when she asked what I thought of him, I really wanted to say "You'll be one sorry SOB when I am done with you." But instead I choked.
