AN: Yeah. This prompt just spoke to me. Please enjoy. And don't take this too seriously, because you'll hate me for it if you do :D I am going to write a fic about Nick and Katherine as an actual couple, but then I saw this prompt and yeah. Blame the internet for this :).
DISCLAIMER. I do not own Eve. Or the word Scrumdillitelyumpschous. I guess Willy Wonka owns that. I don't own him either.
Prompt: Imagine Person A and Person B of your OTP arguing over who gets the last doughnut. [Bonus: Random Person C takes the doughnut while they're not paying attention.]
It was the same argument every day.
Katherine stood behind her desk, eyes blazing, dinner plate in hand, one jam and cream doughnut positioned in the centre of it. "I'm the boss!"
Nick folded his arms, standing opposite her. "And I'm the employee who you get to order around all day, every day!"
"Because that's your job!" She glared at him. "Do you still want your job by the end of the day, Nick? Because I can very easily fire you!"
"Then who would you have to boss around all day?"
"I'll find someone!"
"Who?"
Katherine thought. Racked her brains, even. There really was no one else she enjoyed bossing around more than Nick. Nick, in his knitted jumpers with his computer programmes that he claimed to have on his laptop but, in reality, never did have in the first place.
"That's not important!" She said aloud, in answer to his question. A smug grin had started to form on his face. She couldn't have that. "What is important is that I have a company to run. You have a computer programme. Which one of those sounds like it requires more effort? My job, or yours?"
"Oh, yes, I'm sure it takes a lot of effort to stand around and frown at people all day!"
"I do no such thing!"
"You're doing it now!"
"Am not!"
"Are to!"
"Am not!"
"Are to -!"
"Katherine? I just wanted - Aw, great!" Zac's voice cut across the argument as he strode into the room. "When did we start getting doughnuts on our breaks?" He swiped the last doughnut off the plate and crammed it into his mouth in one go, much to the annoyance of Katherine and Nick. He frowned at their expressions. "What?" Nick simply sighed, as if the whole situation was exasperating. Zac grinned, licking the jam off his fingers. "You two should just cut to the chase. It's getting a little boring now."
Katherine's eyes narrowed to slits, the doughnut forgotten. "What is?"
"This whole will-they-won't-they back and forth thing. Everyone knows the outcome."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Zac rolled his eyes. "Of course you don't. Keep telling yourself that and maybe one day you'll believe that." Brushing the last of the sugar from his fingertips and onto the floor, he turned and walked out of Katherine's office, shaking his head at the fact that two people could be so naive.
As glad as I am that Zac is gone, stealing the doughnut that Nick and Katherine are fighting over sounds exactly like something he'd do. So, I had to put him in this little thing. Hope you enjoyed, and it made you smile for a little while!
