"I wasn't looking for a lifetime with you
And I never thought it would hurt just to hear
"I do" and "I do"
And I do a number on myself
And all that I thought to be
And you'll be the one
That just left me undone
By my own, hesitation"
I sat there and watched as she stood up there with him. She looked so happy. She was happy, and in the end, I guess that's all that ever really mattered to me. I still couldn't believe that I was loosing her to him of all people. I didn't even think she liked him, but then I got an invitation to their wedding. I guess that what happens when you're out of the loop. Maybe I should have said something sooner.
"And for the million hours that we were
well I'll smile and remember it all
then I'll turn and go
while your story's completed mine is a long way from done.
Well I'm on a champagne high
Where will I be when I stop wondering why
On a champagne high
I'd toast to the future but that'd be a lie
On a champagne high"
I still remember when she came to me and wanted my help. She was so angry. I agreed to help her, thanking God for letting her come to me instead of anybody else. Every moment we were together was interesting, to say the least. She's the only one that's made me feel like a 14 year old school boy that had a crush on his teacher. I did everything she told me to down to the letter. I tried not to think about it too much as I listened to the minister pronounce them husband and wife. I didn't want anything to ruin her day, but inside I felt a pain in my heart that I'd never felt before.
But I guess there wasn't much I could do about it now. Christian looked over at me when they asked if there were any objections. He was the only one that knew the way I felt about her. When the minister started to speak again he looked away. I don't know if he wanted me to say something or not. She was happy and that's all that really mattered.
We got up to leave the church and congratulate the happy couple and head to the reception. I walked up to them and gave her a hug.
" Congratulations Steph." I said as I let her go. I looked over to her left and smiled. " You're a lucky man Chris." I said shaking his hand. I suddenly remembered the time I Gored him through the Smackdown set and had to keep from laughing, to think, I did it for her too.
" Thanks Rhyno. We're glad you could make it." he said, smiling ear to ear. We finished shaking and I headed out the door to my truck.
" Hey, Rhyno, wait up." I heard a voice yell from behind me. I turned around and saw Christian walking towards me.
" Hey." I said as he stopped beside me.
" Hey. I didn't think you were going to come?" he said.
" I wasn't, but then I changed my mind. I wanted to make sure she was happy. I made sure and now I'm leaving." I said calmly.
" That should have been you. Both of us know that." he said whispering.
" No, Steph and Chris belong together. I didn't think so at first, but now I see that they do." I said. I began walking towards my truck again and I heard him call out again.
" Are you going to the reception?" he asked.
" No, I wouldn't want to be a burden." I said simply as I unlocked my truck and got in. I drove away knowing that she was happy, and that's all that ever mattered to me.
Author's note: YO!! Well, that makes two Smoochy fics for me. This one does have Rhyno in it though. Personally I think Rhyno and Steph are a cuter couple than her and Chris, but that's just my opinion.
The song I used is Sister Hazel's "Champaign High". I didn't use the whole song, but I was sitting on my floor cleaning and got the idea. I hope you like it :)
