Consciousness was slow to return to Yang. A ray of sunshine fell across her eyes, making her groan and roll over, right off the couch she had been sleeping on. She jolted and sat up, now wide awake. "owww." She groaned, rubbing her now incredibly sore head. She squinted against the sunlight and groaned burying her face in her knees. Damn was she ever hungover. Her lower legs were tangled in a blanket. She frowned that was weird, she didn't remember getting a blanket. Then again she really didn't remember the tail end of her evening.
There was a few faint clinks and a hiss making Yang perk up. Someone was in the kitchen. Probably making breakfast. Yang sure hoped they knew she was here otherwise it was going to be really awkward. She stood unsteadily, wobbling a bit and trying to find her balance. She shivered and just then noticed at some point she had lost her shirt, leaving her in only her yellow sports bra and sport shorts. Wonderful. Taking the Blanket and wrapping it around her shoulders she shuffled towards the noise.
The living room opened into the kitchen through a large wooden arch way. Still unsteady on her feet Yang leaned against the wooden frame for support. Lilac eyes adjusted to the much brighter room. Once she could see without squinting too much she saw a girl moving about and cooking breakfast. She wore a much too large sweater and leggings, onyx hair dishevelled a black bow sitting slightly crooked atop her head. She also work a rather adorable pair of thick black rimmed glasses. Yang remembered seeing her around school but couldn't immediately remember her name.
Shuffling a bit and clearing her throat she called out softly. "Hey." The girl jumped and whirled about to face her, one hand pressing against her heart. Yang smiled sheepishly. "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." Slowly she relaxed. She offered a timid smile back.
"uhm, I guess you're up then." Yang nodded and pulled the blanket a bit tighter around her. She flushed and gave an awkward laugh and rubbed the back of her neck nervously.
"Look I'm really sorry I must still be kinda drunk but I can't remember your name." The smaller girl shrugged and turned back to the eggs on the stove.
"That's alright." She said softly. "It's not like we've met before." She paused to scoop the now scrambled eggs onto two plates. "I'm Blake." She said quietly. She moved about the kitchen, piling both the plates with toast and some Bacon that had been in the microwave, presumably to keep it warm. She pulled a carton of orange juice from the fridge and placed in on the table. Yang watched in silence, unsure of what to say next. She opened and closed her mouth several times, trying to think of something to say that didn't make her sound even worse. Suddenly Blake was in front of her pushing one of the plates into Yang's hands.
Lilac eyes widened and she stared at Blake who flushed and seemed to curl farther into herself. "You made me breakfast?" Yang asked in disbelief, jaw hanging open. Blake nodded before settling at the table and pouring herself a glass of juice. Her cheeks were a bright red.
"It seemed Rude to only make myself breakfast." She mumbled. Yang was still wide eyed as she sat down at the table.
"Normally in this situation just letting a drunk kid sleeping on your couch is the nicest you have to be." Blake shrugged and refused to meet her eyes.
"I wouldn't know." Yang tilted her head. Blake was picking at her food. Her entire demeanor screamed discomfort.
"What do you mean?" Yang asked curiously, biting into the toast. Blake blushed and stayed silent. Yang let her be instead deciding to focus on the food that had been made for her.
"This was my first house party." Blake quietly admitted, frowning down at her plate. Yang lifted her head and frowned.
"Wait a second…." Suddenly a thought came to her and Yang had no idea how she had missed this earlier. "Wait a second I remember now, It was Cardin Winchesters party he invited the entire team…" Yang trailed off. She was captain of the school basketball team and Cardin had strutted up to her Thursday after practice, both flirting and insisting the entire team was at his party. While Yang was no big fan of the boy she had never turned down a chance to party.
Blake was silent across from her as she fidgeted. "If this was Cardins party…. Why am I at your house? This is your house right?" Yang asked, doubt creeping into her voice. Blake pulled her knees up to her chest wrapping her arms around them and resting her chin on her knees. She hesitated but nodded.
Yang sat silently trying to work out what was going on. She frowned and nibbled at her toast. As far she knew Cardin wasn't friends with many girls, preferring to hang out with his cronies Sky, Dove and Lark. Setting her toast down she leaned down trying to catch the gaze of the other girl. "Something really isn't adding up here…"
Blake blushed and her grip tightened around her knees. "I-It's nothing." She stuttered. Yang continued to stare. Finally she clued in. Her eyes widened and she gasped.
"Oh my god Cardin bullied you into this didn't he!" She shouted. Blake jumped, startled at her sudden outburst. Yang silently fumed. "I should have known better." She growled. "I've been to Cardins house before." She turned angry eyes to Blake who flinched. "I bet he left and was planning on making you clean up alone too." She fumed, crossing her arms across her chest. Silently she cursed Cardin calling him every dirty name in the book. When she'd calmed down a bit she turned her attention back to Blake who eyed her warily.
"So let me get this straight. Cardin bullied you into having a house party at your house, a party I'm more than willing to bet you wanted nothing to do with, invited half the school and left you here clean up all the mess in the morning. And you let me stay the night, you got me a blanket and you made me breakfast even when you probably didn't even want me here in the first place." Blake's blush was back and she shrugged and nodded.
"uhm, yeah." Yang narrowed her eyes.
"What a fucking douche bag." Gold eyes widened as Yang swore. Yang leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table. "I'm really grateful for what you did for me Blake and I feel horrible having taken advantage of you." Blake opened her mouth to speak but Yang silenced her. "A pup-pup! I did I take advantage of you and your hospitality even if I didn't know it at the time. So" she clapped her hands together and stood. "I'm going to help you clean up your house, and then, I'm going to go find Cardin and Punch him in the face." Gold eyes widened and she stood.
"You, you really don't have to do that."
"Of course I do." Yang grinned but her grin faltered. Gently she placed her hand on Blake's shoulder. "Blake, not to be rude but you don't seem to have many friends, if you did they'd be here, helping you clean up."
Blake cast her eyes downwards and shrugged. "Its fine, I like being alone anyways." Yang didn't believe her for even a second.
Yang bit her lip before she decided to just go for it. She wrapped her arms around the girl and hugged her gently. Blake stiffened for a moment before she slowly relaxed into the contact. Tentatively arms came up and hugged her back.
"You may not have friends but you've got one now." Yang grinned and stepped back to Meet Blake's gaze. Her cheeks were pink but she had a soft smile on her face. "So Blake where would you like me to start? You've got me all day." She winked and for the first time Blake grinned at her. Yang's heart flip flopped but she ignored it.
"uhm, we could start by doing the dishes…?" Yang straightened and snapped a quick salute.
"Yes ma'am!" Blake giggled and Yang started filling the sink with hot water. She hummed to herself. Idly she reach for the dish soap. Quietly Blake cleared her throat and Yang turned to meet her eyes. Her cheeks were flushed pink and she fiddled with the hem of her sweater.
"Yang?"
"Yeah?"
She smiled softly and Yang could see how happy she was just in that one smile. "Thanks…. For everything." Yang grinned and scooped a handful of bubbles into her palm discreetly.
"You're welcome Blakey, thought I really wouldn't thank me yet." Blake looked confused before Yang laughed and smeared the bubbled across her chest. Blake jolted and stared wide eyed at the bumbles now decorating her chest. Yang laughed so hard she doubled over. Blake's shocked and confused look had been priceless. Eventually Blake cracked a smile and even laughed as well.
Yang straightened and wiped away a tear, still giggling. She smiled. "You're in for a wild ride." She chuckled. Blake smiled and shrugged.
"I look forward to it."
