Hinged

By Pegbronco

If there ever was a way to close a door, I have had it done.

I have been pushed, shoved, bumped, yanked, pulled, slammed.

I have been gripped, elbowed, shouldered, hipped, butted and footed.

I have also been left open, ajar, or sealed tight.

I have been peeked around, sneaked around, and listened through.

I have been a window to another room and a barrier from that room.

I have kept people in and criminals out.

I have helped to keep secrets from spreading and allowed knowledge to spread.

I have tried to hold the roars from bellowing out, and the whispers from penetrating in.

I have been handled by the best and those dearest to our hearts.

I have allowed the White Knight and the Dark Warrior to pass through the realms that I separate.

Both equal in their handling of me.

In times of jubilation or hesitation and in times of pure distaste.

I will continue my plight as long as they continue to pass through me.

For these two have worn my hinges.

But for them, I will hold together.
