It was a quiet night in the Manette house and Lucie and Charles were sitting under an oak tree holding hands.
"Did I ever tell you," he said, "how beautiful you look in the moonlight?"
She blushed. She never knew how to respond to praise like that.
"Thank you Charles," she said, "You look quite dashing yourself. You know I'm thinking about our upcoming wedding. I am so excited to begin my life with you"
"Oh Lucie," he said, "It isn't just beginning. Our lives together began when we fell in love. That is the beginning of our lives."
"Please don't remember that," he said gently, "One of the things I love about you is how you are never afraid to speak your mind. That is something I respect and admire about you my Lucie. I don't consider talking back to be a bad thing. I love you for you. Don't you ever change for anything."
"Yes Charles," she said smiling, "I promise"
