Book one chapter one prelude
I have seen horrible, scaring, and disturbing things in my lifetimes. I've watched brother turn on brother, husband on wife, friend on friend, and guardians on those they've sworn to protect. I've seen villages filled with children broken and bleeding without hope. I've seen pain, agony, suffering, torture and mutilation of all kinds, and I've seen more death than anyone ought to see without breaking. I've seen the horrors men and women will commit on each other and on the children of the world out of anger, revenge, power, and for the scraps the world has tossed them.
But I do not lose hope for although I walk in a valley shadowed in death and darkness I do not fear this evil for I am not alone, there is light in the darkness. The lights of joy, hope, honor, and love burn brightest in the dark…and I can see the lights all around me. I have watched people find some way to stretch their meager blankets over one more body because we are all family. And those who have nothing giving the clothes off their backs and the food in their hands to those who have even less. I've watched people stand up over and over again in the face of monsters and evil and not back down. I've seen them somehow find the strength to raise their broken, beaten, and bloodied bodies again and again because they will not allow the people they care about, and those they have sworn to protect be taken from them.
But they are but candles in the night and they are fading without out a beacon to light the way and guide them together in this dark night. I am that beacon. I always am, and I always will be for the rest of time as long as my spirit exists in this world. I will gather the light in the darkness and together we will stand against the evil and we will prevail. Because just as the sun always rises and pushes back the night, we to will rise and do the same. We will push back the night and then the light will shine and the darkness will fall.
One the light has risen again; I will stand guard over the people to protect them from the evils in this world, and in their own hearts. I will do this task for this is my job, my sacred duty, and my reason for existing. For I am the Avatar, I am the embodiment of light, justice, balance, honor, and love. I come bearing the wisdom of one hundred thousand lifetimes, and all the power of a wrathful god.
My name is Aang. I am twelve years old and this is my story. Take a seat, grab a snack, and hold on tight…this is going to be one hell of a ride.

Hey everyone, well I guess this starts my first foray into the world of writing for fan fiction (been a reader for a while) and I am really curious to see what you guys think. I think that it's only fair that I make it clear that like most stories in this fandom this is a bit of an AU. While I do kind of know where I'm going with this and how the stories gonna progress a lot of things are still up in the air, so if you like the way something is going or have a suggestion let me know and I might put it in/keep it. Although I'm curious if I should just go ahead with my epic of a story that I have planned out or if I should do some one shots to get my name circulating and get some practice?
I'm not going to announce pairings or anything cause it's my opinion that you should read something because it's good not because of a pairing being in the description (there will be romance hopefully I don't screw it up that badly xD). Although I will say if you're looking for gay or lesbian pairings please look somewhere else cause you'll be disappointed, I don't have anything against people who are gay or lesbian I just can't write it it's to awkward for me. Sorry :/
