A lady set down her two month old daughter on the forest floor. It was an open spot anyone could see. Her eyes were dark blue.
"I'm sorry..." she whispered to the baby before turning around and walking away. The infant wailed, opening her brown eyes. Someone heard the crying a bit later. The kid followed the crying. He had reddish brown hair, faded red eyes and he wore an oversized green hoodie. He found the baby and blinked. She wailed. She was very tiny and only a few pounds. Her hair was a dark brown and it was very wispy. She would die out there if she was alone… He crouched down and picked up the child. She fussed, but looked up at the boy. She giggled and clapped her hands together. He was confused but smiled and the smol. She snuggled into him. What would the boy name her?
"Frisk.. That seems like a nice name." He said, patting her. Newly named Frisk smiled and cooed at him.
"I guess you can come home with me..." He said, starting to walk away with her. She started sucking on his hoodie as he said this. She already liked him. The boy eventually stopped at one of the trees. He looked up at it. Then, cradling the child in one arm, he climbed up it. The baby was fascinated by everything. He swung himself up and landed on the deck of a tree house. Frisk giggled, enjoying herself. The boy tapped the baby's nose.
"I'm Chara. Nice to meet you~" She gurgled at Chara.
"Gah!" He grinned.
Years later... Chara and Frisk still lived in the treehouse. Frisk was wearing a blue hoodie with purple stripes. She was a little bit over six years old.
"I'm going to go to the store to get some food." She told him.
"Okay! I was gonna fix the leak in the roof." He grinned, grabbing some wood planks. He still wore the hoodie, but it fit him better now. His hair was longer and his eyes were still faded red. He was around 12 so he had a job. She nodded and stepped down the ladder. She walked down the street and into the store. She slipped some food into her big pocket in the middle of her hoodie. He jumped up the roof and hammered some planks in place. She snuck out of the store. Since she was small no one suspected her. He finished, sliding down the roof and landing on the deck. Frisk came back.
"Big brother! Big brother!" She exclaimed, climbing up the ladder.
"Yeah?" He asked, leaning over the railing.
"I got food!"
"Nice! What'da get?"
"Because we can make a fire, I got us a bunch of soups and some bread!"
"That's great!" He grinned. For being a child, she was very sneaky. Chara liked having another person around. She always knew Chara as her big brother. She trusted him.
"I got the roof fixed! It shouldn't leak got a while!" He grinned.
"Yay!" She cheered, her eyes fixating on the roof. "What do you wanna do today?" He asked her.
"Hm... whatever you want to do!"
"I think we can explore!"
"Okay!"
"You can lead the way~" He said, grinning. She stepped down the ladder and led the way to an abandoned house. Chara followed, just watching everything. She pulled on a wooden board blocking the entrance.
"Need some help?'The small six year old nodded her head. The twelve year old pulled the plank off. She crawled under the opening. He followed. She looked around. It was a bad place. He stretched and looked around also. It was dark and there was some dead animals on the ground. Chara poked one of them with his foot. Frisk cringed as she looked around.
"Someone's been holed up in here for a bit."
"Yeah…" "Wonder who it is." She shuddered. He fiddled with the strap on his pouch. She tried looking for signs of a person. There weren't that many signs. She clung to her brother.
"You'll be fine!" He reassured her.
"This place is scarier than I thought..." She murmured. He nodded. She pressed closer to him. He patted her. There was a crash from upstairs and a small, cream and brown fur ball landed on the floor in front of them.
"A cat!" Frisk exclaimed, gasping. Chara blinked. The cat meowed. Frisk giggled and ran over to it excitedly. She picked it up. "Can we keep it Chara, can we?"
"Of course!" He shrugged. Frisk hugged the cat. "What are you gonna call it? The cat had dark green eyes.
"Alex!" She exclaimed, hugging it tighter.
"Seems like a good name." Chara grinned. Asriel purred. She skipped out of the abandoned house, still holding the floof. Chara followed. She went up to the treehouse. He hopped up the branches. Alex looked around. She set the cat down on the ground. He wandered around, sniffing things. Frisk watched him excitedly. He hopped up on the windowsill and stretched out. Frisk smiled. He purred quietly as Chara stretched. Frisk sat down next to Chara.
"That cat seems to like us." He noted.
"Yeah!" Frisk hugged his side. She loved her big brother. Chara patted her back. This was a normal life for them.
One day, when Frisk was about eight, she went to the store to get food. The store had started to notice her. She started slipping soup cans in her pockets. One of the security guards placed a hand on her shoulder. Frisk's eyes widened and she skirted out of there. But the guard followed her. She dashed quickly. The guard narrowed his eyes. She went as fast as she could. He muttered something into his walkie talkie and more guards appeared in front of Frisk. Frisk dodged them as best as she could. But since she was small, they managed to catch her. She frowned.
"Shoplifting is a crime you know." One of them said to her. She decided to fake innocence. She started to fake cry.
"My parents never told me that!"
"You should have figured that out by now. Taking from others is bad."
"I'm only eight!" The guard shook his head.
"You clearly know what you are doing."
"But I don't!" She protested.
"Ugh. Anyways, we need to contact your parents. What is your last name?"
"I don't have a last name, sir."
"And why is that?"
"I don't have parents." He frowned.
"Then who is your guardian?"
"My brother."
"And what is his name?"
"Chara."
"Where do you two live?"
"In a tree." The guard frowned. What was he supposed to do? Maybe get the boy and put them in the adoption center…? That sounded accurate. He decided to do that.
"Can you show me where you live?"
"Sure..." She muttered. The guard followed her. She climbed up the ladder. She was such an idiot! Chara was repairing the tree house.
"Chara..." She murmured.
"Yeah?" He asked, not seeing the guard.
"I got caught…"
"What?"
"You know... when I went to the store…"
"So what happened?"
"I got caught stealing…"
"What did they do?"
"Just... come down the ladder..."He frowned, but did so. Frisk was being held by the officer. Chara frowned, his fingers ready to grab a weapon. She mouthed something. "I'm sorry."
"What is this." He asked the officer.
"We found this one stealing from the store." He grunted. He frowned.
"Okay... so?"
"That's against the law."
"...okay." The officer's eyes narrowed. This was a dead end for them. Frisk wormed her way out and ran. Chara hissed. She didn't know where she was going, but she was running. Somewhere. Up a mountain. Chara tried to follow. The officer was hot on his tail.
"Chara!" called Frisk from a little ways up the mountain. "Come on! Up here!"
"I'm trying!" He called back. A lot of officers were looming around. Frisk headed into a cave, hoping Chara would follow. Chara ended up getting cornered.
"Chara!" Frisk's voice was panicky.
"GO!" He shouted to her. Frisk went deeper into the cave. A hole. She heard footsteps behind her and jumped down it. Chara had handcuffs put on, as he tried to stab someone.
Frisk was lying in a bed of buttercups. She was only six… A smol floof heard a thump and peeked out from behind a wall. She was so small... it was unknown whether she even survived… He rushed over, worried. She was pale. The floof pressed his paws to her, he was a smol with a tiny bit a magic. She was healed a bit. Enough that she regained consciousness. The floof was anxious.
"Chara?" Her vision was blurry.
"Who's that?" The floof asked, still worried.
"Oh... he's my brother..."
"I don't see anyone else, it's just you!" She frowned.
"Well... I'm Frisk."
"I'm Asriel!"
"Nice to meet you."
"Yay! Same!" She grinned slightly. And then frowned. She missed Chara.
Meanwhile, Chara was sitting in a police car. Why couldn't he just have escaped? Because, he wanted Frisk to be safe. He didn't know if she escaped or not.
She went with Asriel to his home. Asriel introduced her to his parents. Frisk liked them. She never had parents. She still couldn't help but think about Chara… But Chara wasn't there… She just tried to get her mind off of it. Frisk liked it there... no one to judge her for being broke… Chara would have liked it too. She knew that. She held onto a golden locket. He was out there... somewhere… Frisk had been underground. It had been a while since she had been with Chara. She still missed him.
Chara sat in a holding cell, waiting. He watched the guards pass by, waiting for an opening. At one point, he found a good opening… He grinned and slammed the door down. It hit the ground with a crash. Everyone would hear it. And everyone did. The guards started talking into their walkie talkies about capturing him where he was headed. His eyes glowed as he raced through the building. He had to get to Mt. Ebott... he had heard that Frisk was never caught. He broke the front door off its hinges and raced toward it. He just had to climb... they were running after him. He found the hole and leaped down it. Frisk one day headed back to pick some flowers. She saw him. Chara. Her brother. And then she rushed over to him. Chara shook his head, the fall had dazed him. Frisk shook him.
"Chara! Chara!" "Ah... yes?"
"It's you! It's really you!"
"Uh... yeah? Why wouldn't it be me?"
"I missed you so much!" She hugged her brother tightly. He patted her back.
"Same here." Frisk was so happy.
"So, what'ca been doing with me not around?" He asked, grinning.
"Hmmmmmm... thinking about you! And making friends!"
"Well, should we go say hi to them?"
"Yeah!" She pulled him up from the ground.
