Author's Note: I've seen a couple of next gen fics floating around so I decided to write my own. Below is the current five and their counterparts in this story.

Matt: Maya Samuelson

Pedro: Glenn (did I name him after Glenn Coco? Yeah)

The seventh generation of gatekeepers had a unique experience defeating the old ones. They weren't fighting in a war, all of them had decent home lives and no one in the group was plotting mutiny. They were just kids. Literally, the oldest two were nine turning ten. So how do five hyperactive children with unfathomable powers defeat the greatest evil the world has ever seen?

To answer that, go to Maya Samuelson's house on the day of Maya's ninth birthday. You'd find her with her four closest friends;Peter, Daniel, Colette and Glenn. Colette, Daniel and Peter wielding cardboard swords. Maya stood in front of them. Glenn was sitting on the couch behind them, acting as the narrator.

"The brave knights approached the queen to tell her about the evil shadow monster."

Colette bowed before speaking. "Your majesty, how do we defeat the evil shadow monster?"

" You mustht bring them here. They'll be weaker out of their realm." Maya's lisp was apparent.

"Suddenly, a shadowy figure appeared!" True to Glenn's words, the evil shadow monster was there!

Colette swung her sword, the twins following her lead. "Yet the evil shadow monster would not fall" Glenn gasped as Maya picked up a sword and swung it at the evil shadow monster. " The Queen has joined!"
" AND THE NARRATOR JOINED TOO!" shouted Maya. Glenn jumped down and grabbed a sword that Daniel handed him. The five kids circled the evil shadow monster and stabbed them with their swords.

" The evil has been defeated!" The kids cheered before Maya's mom appeared. "Lunch is ready, kids", was all she said before leaving.

The kids all dropped their swords and simultaneously ran after Maya's mom. Except for Glenn who stayed behind to give the ending statement. "And so, the heroes defeated yet another villain and kept their kingdom safe!"

"Hurry up, Glenn!" Colette shouted from the other room.

"I'll be there in a minute!"
