This is my first non-Warriors FanFic just so you know. Yeah.

Disclaimer: I do not and will never own the series His Dark Materials. I do however own my characters and my plot and I would appreciate it if on one would steal my ideas. Thank you.

"Quiet Aeora, I don't know where we are, but it looks dangerous." A tall girl with a long-furred silver cat on her shoulder stepped out of shadowed alley. "Iisa," said the cat, looking around nervously. "Why did Asrael send us here?" The girl looked around. Iisa was a fair skinned girl with dark brown hair flowing to her waist. Her emerald green eyes matched those of her Daemon, who had taken the shape of a sparrow and was now flying in little circles around Iisa's head. "Stop, you're making me dizzy." the girl said, staring intently at something in the distance.

Suddenly, something grabbed her wrist and spun her around! It was a man wearing a crimson robe with fur lining. "Excuse me." he said with a sneer. "What is your name?" "Don't tell him!" whispered Aeora, who had dived for cover in her pocket. "I…Sarah." stuttered Iisa, "Let go of me!"

The man laughed. "I know who you are! You're the princess! I've been waiting to get my hands on you! I-" at that moment, he stopped abruptly and fell to the ground with a groan. "Iisa, run!" whispered Aeora, more forcefully than before. Iisa glanced at the moaning figure on the ground, and ran.

R...F

"Did you have to be so messy about it?" said Aeora after Iisa had slowed to a walk. The girl batted playfully at her Daemon, who jumped out of the way. "He had my wrists, what could I have done besides kick him?"

"True."

They walked in silence for a while. Then Iisa turned to her Daemon and asked, "Can you take your wolf shape?" Aeora looked at her curiously. "This one?" she asked, turning into a small wolf cub with white and silver fur. "Yeah." said Iisa, grinning. "But if you see anyone, be a sparrow again."

"Sure." said Aeora, rubbing her head against Iisa's leg. "Maybe we should stop soon." she suggested after a while. "You look exhausted, Iisa." "Maybe we should stop." Iisa agreed, allowing her Daemon to lead her to a bench. She fell asleep almost immediately and didn't wake up until she felt Aeora pecking her urgently. "Hey, you!" Iisa snapped awake and saw three girls coming towards her. "Are you a messenger?" one of them demanded, stopping right in front of her.
