Our story, told by 4 of the oldest hunters to still roam the land. These are their stories, from days of old when the land was a much more dangerous place. Their missions to defend, rescue and escort, no matter the challenge failure meant certain death.
Chapter 1 Roland
Roland an elderly man who is wise beyond his years begins our story with his life as a monster hunter. I was only 19 when I was assigned my first gathering quest. The town's chief had fallen ill and required a few potions. Now I know what you are thinking just a few blue mushrooms and herbs and were all set. However there were quite a few jaggia and jaggi that I had to slip past to accomplish my mission.
The scariest part of my mission was the thought of the beasts i might run into. They may not have been to bright but they are fast and mean, they tend to attack in packs. They closely resemble a T-Rex but they only stand at about 6 feet tall, bluish gray skin and claws sharper and stronger than any dagger. The jaggia are the babies of the jaggi, smaller but still just as deadly. Now being a new hunter I was not quite skilled in the art of bringing these beasts down. My methods had to be more strategic.
So it was the day after my 19th birthday when I was approached by the town's healer. I was taken to the side and informed that the town's chief had fallen ill and they needed a hunter to fetch some materials. Now me being an ambitious young guy I accepted the quest not knowing what I was truly getting myself into.I went home to prepare my leather hides and some dried meat and water for my journey.
Once night fell I left home to make my way out to ancient steppe. I used the cover of darkness to sneak into base camp for if my parents found out I left my father would skin me worse than the jaggi could. Once I arrived at the base camp I sat down and sharpened my dagger as a precaution in case I had to fight. After my supplies from camp were in my bag my knife sharp and my belly full I laid down to rest my eyes. Being nervous of my first real hunt sleep did not come easy after hours of tossing I finally dozed off from exhaustion.
