A man and a woman angrily stormed out of the trial room. They headed to a restaurant a couple blocks away, both still too mad to speak. After being seated, they gave the waitress their drink and appetizer orders before beginning to let it out.

"Can you believe they just dismissed us like that? Now neither of them will win the case, and we don't get paid for defending them." The man told his companion angrily.

"They never should've done that. The commissioner's son must think really highly of himself to risk not only his career, but his partners too." The women sneered back.

"Exactly! You know that there's no way he will win. I was kinda excited about helping that partner of his win, but noooo. 'We requested a united defense.' 'My partner and I would like to discharge the council' 'We want to represent ourselves.' Such a snob." The man mocked, causing the women to sigh.

"I know! We could do so much better then some lowly beat cop can. Harvard degree or not, that wasn't a wise decision." She agreed as she took a sip of wine, knowing deep down that they were just mad and being overly critical because they had lost the job.

"I don't even understand why he would want to defend them, or why she would so readily agree. I mean, what could he have said to make her trust him so quickly? And why were they so insistent on having a unified defense?" The man questioned, raising his voice.

"You really couldn't tell? It's so obvious. Everyone can tell." The women answered crossing her arms after taking another sip of wine.

"They love each other anyway. If I didn't know better, I would have definitely thought they were a couple. Those looks? They didn't even NEED to use words. I've seen such non-verbal communication. She trusts him with her life on AND off the job. They weren't about to fight against each other. They've been partners and friends for almost five years, and I just don't think they could've done it."

"Huh." The man replied thoughtfully. It did make sense. He had noticed all the little signs, the thought just had never really crossed his mind. The more he thought about it though, the more he saw it and realized she was right.

"That still doesn't explain though why he wanted to defend them. They could've just gotten a joint defense." He countered. The women just smirked.

"Oh please. He wanted to impress her." She explained with another smirk. The man just nodded, knowing she was right; the two officers loved each other, and not even the best defense attorney in the world could argue that. While wasn't sure whether or not they would in up being held accountable for the accident, but no one could deny that the officers who held the title of 12-David were soulmates.
