Ode to Sandman
They call me the sandman
Bringer of dreams
I aid in sleep
My sand like streams
Into minds they creep
Making such beautiful scenes.
I help the children you see
When they lay, their minds, they race
Helping eyes close and thought wander
I watch dreams unfold at quick pace
At the innocence, the imagination, I ponder
Do all humans have such curious thoughts?
Sometimes I see dreams of magic and unknown
But other times I see simple tasks like chores
And wonder why dream of everyday things
I rather see fun and mystery scenes through snores
Through clouds and kingdoms they bask
They should worry about human things later.
Alas they ARE human, such repetitive creatures
They think so often of the familiar
Such busy minds, should they not rest?
To have complex, creative dreams never similar
Sometimes dreamless nights are what's best
What matters most is that the body and mind may rest.
They call me the sandman
A guardian for boys and girls
Dreams are what I bring
I give worlds filled with joys and wonders
I give them energy to play, laugh, and sing
So long as you believe, I'll always bring you dreams .
