"Did you have to bring the dog?" Steve McGarrett asked his partner, Danny Williams, as the Five-0 team approached Kamekona's shrimp truck.
"What else was I supposed to do?" Danny demanded. "I couldn't leave him all alone in the office."
"You could have left him with Jerry," Steve said.
"Oh, right, like I'm going to subject my dog to Jerry's crazy theories."
"He's a dog," Steve said. "I hardly think he's going to care."
"What do you have against my dog, anyway?" Danny demanded, not for the first time.
Steve sighed. "Nothing. I just don't see why you have to bring him anywhere."
"Because he's part of the team!"
Chin Ho Kelly, one of the other team members broke in. "It's not a big deal, Steve. It's not like Bullet isn't well-behaved."
"Besides," Chin's cousin and fellow team member, Kono Kalakaua added, "he likes Kamekona's shrimp."
Danny glared at the team. "And don't think I don't know one of you has been feeding him. Do you want him to get fat?"
Lou Grover, the final team member, snorted. "Oh, yeah, like you haven't snuck him shrimp yourself."
"That's not the point!" Danny said as the team made it to the window.
"Howzit," Kamekona, the proprietor and friend of Five-0, said. "What can I get for you gentlemen and lady?" Bullet barked. "And dog."
"Five garlic shrimp," Danny ordered for the team.
"Coming right up," Kamekona said. "Are you sure you don't want to make it six? Poor dog looks kinda skinny."
This time the glare was directed at Kamekona. "Yes, I'm sure."
The team got their food and settled at one of the tables, Bullet lying next to Danny. They were chatting about their latest case when a young man approaching the truck caught their eye. They all watched as he nervously approached the window. Kamekona was about to ask him what he wanted when the man pulled out a gun. "Hand over the money and no one gets hurt."
All the members of Five-0 stood up as one, five hands going to their guns as they waited to see what would happen.
The gun quivered in the man's hands as Kamekona emptied the cash register. The man reached out for the cash with his gun hand, forgetting he was holding it and dropping it to the ground.
"Freeze! Five-0!" five voices shouted in unison as the man bent to pick up the gun.
The man took one look at them and bolted, forgetting his gun. The members of Five-0 moved to pursue, but were hampered by the table they were sitting at. Bullet wasn't. He took off in a flash, pursuing the would-be robber down the beach.
The man ran onto the jetty, Bullet right on his heels. He leaped off the end, the German shepherd following. The man began paddling frantically, but he wasn't a very strong swimmer, and Bullet caught up to him, grabbing his collar and starting to haul him back to land.
"He can't do it alone," Danny said, stopping at the end of the jetty. He motioned at Steve. "Go help him."
"Me?" Steve said. "You do it. He's your dog."
"Yeah, but Danno don't swim. You're the Super SEAL."
Chin broke in before Steve could protest again. "I'll help him." He quickly stripped off his shirt and dove in. He swam out to the struggling dog and grabbed the perp, hauling him back to the jetty. Steve took the perp from Chin and cuffed him as Chin climbed out of the water. Danny grabbed Bullet's collar and hauled him up.
"Good boy, Bullet," Danny praised.
Steve smirked. "Yeah, your dog swims better than you do."
