It was a bright sunny day, not a cloud in the sky. He hated it.
Shino stayed in the shade of the gigantic elm tree he had come to love so much and mused to himself.
The training grounds are so bleak... so barren... so lonely...
In a way, these ground reminded Shino a lot of himself. He never showed any emotion, nothing special. Nothing interesting. He figured that it was the only way to stay safe. Emotions never helped anyone. If you let them take control, you could never be peaceful.
I mean, just look at Hinata...
He whispered the name aloud to himself.
"Hinata..."
His face visibly darkened. How could she be so blind? Naruto never would, or could, love her. He was so selfish, always blabbing on about becoming Hokage.
He could never love her. Poor girl. Hinata...
What was this strange feeling in the pit of his stomach? He felt sort of light, but at the same time, he felt like he was helpless.
Hinata...
"... It can't be..."
At that point, he spotted Kiba running towards the grounds.
"OOOOIII! Shino! Am I late?"
Shino just nodded silently.
"Oh well! I overslept!"
He grinned at Shino.
"Hey, where's Hinata?"
Shino shrugged, again silent. But Kiba noticed his face darken. Kiba's grin widened.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
Shino turned his back to him.
"No."
"Oh come on, Shino! We both know that's bullshit! You suck at this thing, you know that right?"
"Go away."
"Not until I know what's going on!"
"Nothing."
"Shino, you're not kidding anyone!"
"Shut up."
"Come on!"
"If Hinata wouldn't be so mad at me, I'd beat the shit out of you right now! I said leave me alone, so do it!"
Kiba was drawn aback. Shino? Talk? Shino? YELL?? Shino? Curse??? Then he understood. He grinned in realization. Shino noticed the grin and immediately turned around and rushed off in the opposite direction.
Kiba just looks at his back as his grin stretched from ear to ear. He shouted to him.
"Well, well! How interesting! HAHAHAHAHA! Shino's lovesick! Hinata, eh?"
Hinata reached the training grounds just in time to hear Kiba's yell and pass out.
