Blood and tears
It was the morning after the second wizarding war had commenced, Ginny was sleeping soundlessly in the girl's dormitory while Harry was pacing up and down the Gryffindor common room. The rest of the family and Hermione were down at the great hall, eating breakfast. Harry was thinking. Just thinking. He had no idea what to say to Ginny when she finally came down to the common room. She had just lost a brother and so many other people important in her life, so Harry had to be mindful of what he said to her. Harry heard footsteps coming down the stairs, sure enough, it was Ginny.
'Hey Ginny' he said hugging her.
Her eyes were red and puffy and her body was covered in cuts and dry blood.
'Hi' she muttered into Harry's chest.
He led her over to the couch and sat down. Ginny sank down into Harry's arms and wiped the tears off of her cheeks as the new ones rolled down her scratched face, stinging her open cuts.
'Are you alright' Harry whispered.
Ginny sat up and punched Harry hard on the shoulder.
'Ow, what was that for?' he said rubbing his shoulder.
'Do you know how scared I have been for the last few months, and then you made me think that you were dead! The whole time you were away, I thought you were hurt or been captured by death eaters You broke my heart Harry Potter! While you were away I hardy had one good nights sleep, even when I was home, safe with mum and dad. Most nights I would just sit in my bed crying, and during the day I would try not to get murdered by half of my class mates and teachers. And when I saw Hagrid carrying you out of the forest I could've sworn my heart stopped beating! Do you know how much that hurt me? Staring at your body, which at the time I believed to be dead! It killed me inside.'
Harry sat there for minutes just starring at Ginny who had a face full of tears. She got up, she started to walk towards the door but harry jumped in front of her.
'Gin, I'm sorry. When Hagrid was carrying me out of the woods, you know why I had to pretend to be dead don't you? I'm so sorry I made you feel like that. And about leaving you before we went on the hunt, I didn't want to hurt you, I thought I was protecting you. If the death eaters had have found out about us, that you were with me, they would've –- Ginny I'm sorry' he sniffed.
Harry now also had tears running down his cheeks, he wiped them away quickly. Ginny looked down at her feet and then back to harry.
'Ginny, you don't know how sorry I am for leaving you, I thought I was doing the right thing. I didn't want you to get hurt' Harry said softly.
'Oh, so you think the carrows baked cookies for us, you think that the Slytherins made friends with us? No! They used the cruciatus curse on anyone who didn't have some sort of connection to the dark side. And then there was the fact that I didn't know where you were or what the hell you were doing, so I was scared for you, while being scared to walk out of my dormitory!'
'Ginny' he whispered placing his hand on top of hers.
She sighed and wrapped her arms around him. Harry did the same and pulled Ginny into a tight hug.
'Sorry I punched you' she mumbled.
Harry laughed, and grabbed her other hand; he slid his fingers between hers.
'Your mum said we're going back to the burrow tomorrow'
Ginny didn't reply, but Harry knew why.
'It's going to be okay Gin, I'm here for you now'
She gave a stiffened nod and a watery smile.
They both stood up and made their way down to the great hall. Hermione and Ron were sitting next to each other at the Gryffindor table, (or, what was left of it anyway) in deep conversation. George, Bill, Charlie, Mr Weasley and Percy were all sitting in a small group, remembering all the good times they had with Fred. Mrs Weasley walked over to Harry and Ginny and gave them each a bone shattering hug.
'C'mon then, lets get back to the Burrow' Mrs Weasley announced in a not so cheery voice.
Harry grabbed Ginny's hand and apparated to the Burrow.
Still holding Ginny's hand, harry led her up to her room.
They both went and sat on her bed in silence.
'I love you' Ginny mumbled into Harrys arm
'I love you too'
