Hermione hated him for it. Almost as much as she hated herself.
She hated the way he ignored her during the day yet held her against his alabaster chest at night.
She hated how every morning, she would promise herself "never again," and yet every evening, she found herself embracing his algid form, running her hands through his hoarfrost hair, melting in his steely gaze.
There was no love in those eyes. She did not expect love. She wasn't sure if a being such as him was capable of love. Yet she knew he had a heart. How many times had she fallen asleep to its rhythm, the only life in the tundra of his soul.
The reasoning was meaningless now. She told herself it was something in her life that she could control. Someone she could control. Oh how wrong he proved her to be.
He was the master puppeteer and she his marionette. His glacial gaze filled her with enough desire and repulsion to make her weak.
She was nothing to him, and yet he was everything. His gossamer kisses littered her body, sending chills down her spine and pain to her heart.
It was his form of revenge. He was torturing her without anyone the wiser. It was the sweetest torture she could ever hope to endure.
AN: It's not yet complete. I'll just keep replacing this chapter instead of adding new ones. It's supposed to be a little confusing and I do realize that Hermione's name is the only HP reference in the entire story, but I think the intent is obvious enough. I made a huge effort to find a title that didn't have any obvious relevancy to the story. If you need the title explained, let me know.
