The Bound God

I cannot come to you; you cannot come to me.
I am bound by my nature, my power, my brethren and my fate. These four condemn me to a static life, the life of a puppeteer tugging strings of influence from behind heavy black curtains, or a shadow regent secretly dominating his monarch. My home is also my prison. My duality gives me strength but also holds my static existence in its hands. To come to you would unravel my power and with it my entire being.
How is it, then, that this is the smallest of the barriers between us, loved one? Making reality of the love I dream for you would make short work of me. I am withheld from your side, but not so much as you are withheld from mine. Your bonds are stronger than mine, keeping us farther apart than even my mortality.
You cannot come to me by order of those more powerful than even myself. Once you were within my grasp, yet now only the most fleeting touch connects me to you. Most of all, though, more even than divine edict, you are kept for me by your love for another. Mithros and the Goddess bound you to your realm, beloved, but only by your own choice. That is what truly denies you of me.
