Forever His Accomplice
Suspicion arises in 18th century London. Husbands and sons are missing. Accusations are flying. All trust is gone. Mrs. Mooney's establishment has been burned while her body was dragged away by a mob and has yet to be located. The finger of blame never rests for long. Lovett is fearful. Todd is seemingly unfazed.
Mrs. Lovett stomped up the stairs to the barbershop where Mr. Todd was sharpening his razors. The barbershop, where if he was drunk enough, appeared to contain the just-out-of-reach vision of his wife and the sounds of a happy gurgling infant in the background. Where he had all his friends and if he squinted hard enough looked almost as bright as it had all those years ago.
Upon reaching the top, Lovett, as was her custom, barged into his perfect little world and promptly chased away whichever memory he was, at that moment, consumed by.
" What do you want?" Todd gruffly asked.
" You very well know that we must escape from this madness, lest we be discovered."Lovett very nearly shouted.
"No."
"No? What do you mean no? Tonight, we can take a carriage to the sea! We have the money. We'll start a new life together and put the past behind us!"she said excitedly.
"Not until his pulse is forever silenced." Todd said quietly.
Mrs. Lovett sighed. She was never important enough for him. Here she was planning out the rest of their lives, and he only cared about that dammed judge. Despite his in-sensitivities she loved him with a devotion that went far beyond what would be considered sane. She knew that whatever he decided, she would follow along, hell that's what got her into this mess in the first place. She gave in.
" You have one week." she said, though she knew it carried no authority.
" That's all I'll need." he said in a tone so low and sadistic that Mrs. Lovett got chills.
She turned to leave and caught one last glimpse of him carefully sharpening his razors, which he had not stopped doing since her arrival.
I have a vague idea of where I am going with this. Kinda just wanted to get some practice. Review and tell me if you think I should continue.
