Nickname

"I can't… my fingers can't move anymore!" I sobbed. I have been practicing for so long. I could barely see through my tears.

"Takuto! Don't Whine!" my mother scolded, "Hey, don't let the tears drop onto the piano, you'll ruin it!"

I hated practicing. Mother would scold me much more harshly, my fingers hurt from the endless playing and it never sounds right. Finally my lesson was done and I plopped myself onto my bed.

After wiping the last of my tears, I opened my secret drawer and took out my GameBoy Advance SP. Placing it inside my bag, I left for the park, where I could be alone.

After arriving, I sat inside the dome I always went to. Not many people went in and you can't tell if anyone is inside without doing so. I was safe from mother's nagging here.

Flipping my game open, I started playing, Pokémon Ruby. Yes, I'm part of a high class family, but I love playing Pokémon! My mother is against gaming, so this was the only place I could play in peace.

I selected the "No" option. I never have clicked "Yes" for this question; I thought nicknaming these guys was pointless.

"Huh? You're not giving him a name?"

I jolted at the sudden voice behind me. A girl, maybe a year younger, leaned over my shoulder. Her eyes were glued to the game screen.

"I-It's my choice isn't it?" I frowned.

Then she took out her own game and linked our devices with the connecting cable without asking me, "Let's battle!" She giggled. Unable to decline, we did.

"Wow, you're so strong…" the girl chirped. She looked at the screen to reread my character name, "Takuto!"

I sneered, "Battling is my specialty. Where did you get an Eevee?" I asked.

The girl smiled, "Do you want one? I have an extra egg I could trade…"

I nodded immediately and we traded pokemon.

"What's your favourite eeveelution? I like Espeon!"

The egg arrived to my game, "Umbreon, he's actually my favourite Pokémon." I said, I was so happy to finally get the Pokémon I loved.

"Ehehe, Espeon's my favourite as well…"

"Thanks for the egg… um… Aoi?"

"Yup, that's my name." The blue-haired girl nodded. "Sorry, but I better head home now. It's almost dinner. Bye Takuto, see you tomorrow!"

The girl got up and crawled out of the dome, waving her hand back at me as she ran out of the park. Tomorrow, huh? I smiled.

Saving and turning the system off, I packed my belongings and headed home myself.

The screen finally lit up revealing my newly hatched Eevee.

I stared at the "Yes" and "No" button options. I clicked the "Yes" for the first time. The Eevee was female, rare for its kind.

What to name her… Only one name came to mind and prevented me from thinking up another. Blushing I inserted the first nickname I ever gave to a Pokémon.

Aoi.

Wanted to try a crossover once, so I did!

Its a completely different kind of story than Iora, but I got some good ideas with this... Probably the influence of the new Pokémon X and Y that just came out...
