Title: Losing
Summary: Willow watches as Tara moves on. Tara/Other
Rating: G
Spoilers/Authors Notes: Set a while after Tabula Rasa, but no real spoilers for anything other than that since it's a bit A/U-ish. Tara never came back to Willow and therefore was never killed and Willow never went off the deep end. Should I make mention of any of the other characters other than in passing in future chapters, I think all their storylines will remain the same so there may be some general season 6 and 7 references. Bulk of the story will be Willow and Tara's new girlfriend and some Tara. Also I'm working on a companion piece to this which is Tara's side of things, starting post-Tabula Rasa and going from there.

August 2, 2002

I saw her today. I mean it's not so weird that I see her, I'll see her around town or around campus or whatever but this time was different. She was with someone. "With her" with her. I know it's been nine months and I shouldn't expect her to still be alone after all this time; but there were so many times, so many conversations, when I thought that things would be okay again. But they won't, will they?

"Hold on I need a drink," Dawn said as she and Willow were walking past a Subway. With less than a month until the new school year began, they were doing some heavy-duty shopping.

"You go ahead Dawnie, I think I'll just sit out here and enjoy the gray" Willow smiled parking herself at one of the white plastic tables set up outside the restaurant. After three weeks straight of 95 plus degree weather a little cloudiness was something to be appreciated. As she watched the people pour out of the movie theatre across the street, her attention was caught when Tara came strolling out. With a smile, she was about to wave and call out to her when she realized that she wasn't alone. Face falling she slumped back into her chair trying to remain inconspicuous as she examined the pair. Willow watched as they stood in front of the theatre seemingly waiting for something. She watched as Tara leaned over to whisper in the girl's ear with a mischievous look on her face causing the girl to blush and smile, shaking her head. She watched as a few moments later Tara kissed the girl briefly on the mouth. She watched as before Tara could fully pull away the girl smiled and pulled her back for a more passionate kiss. She watched, as this time it was the girl's turn to whisper to Tara causing her to smile and blush. She watched as they kissed once more before practically racing for the cab that pulled up.

"I'm so sorry Willow," Dawn's voice broke through her thoughts. She hadn't noticed Dawn come back.

"Can we go home now?" Willow's voice was hoarse. She picked up her bags and started walking towards home. Then almost in a panic she turned around and started walking the other way. "But we didn't get shoes. People need shoes. And they're having that sale today."

"No, Willow, it's okay. We can get shoes another time." Dawn set her things down to put her arms around Willow as she fell back into one of the white chairs bursting into tears. They remained like that for a few minutes it seemed before Willow finally regained her composure. Putting a hand up to interrupt whatever Dawn was about to say, she grabbed her bags and went home.

More notes: Just chapter one of many to come, cos I know it seems kinda incomplete and a bit of nothing now. They'll all be in the same format-willow's diary entry then the story behind it.
