A/N: I've always wanted to write something about Perceptor and Shockwave, even if I wish it was a bit more slash-esque. Maybe I'll continue this? It's very plot-able.

Disclaimer: I'll never own Transformers. In any way. If I ever do, I'll be sure to tell you about it. =3

Perceptor shifted uncomfortably at the feeling of the surgical blade cutting out a rift in his armor plates. "Why do you want me to have this again?"

"It's ... for your own protection." Shockwave cycled his vents in a sigh.

"From what?"

"Just trust me." The truth lay heavily on the other bot's spark.

Examining the blaster cannon that was to be attached to his left shoulder, Perceptor knew there had to be a big reason behind this upgrade. He was a scientist—he didn't need a weapon!

"Please, Shockwave, don't keep secrets from me. You know something."

Working his claws into Perceptor's inner wiring, he pulled the cords needed to program the cannon into the smaller mech's mental interface. "There's just a rumor going around about an uprising in Crystal City." His engines purring, Shockwave stroked the wires tenderly. "I just want you to be safe."

They fell into an uncomfortable silence as Shockwave mounted the cannon. Re-welding the armor around the weapon proved painful for the bespectacled scientist, who leaned back against Shockwave's chassis.

Massaging the sensitive nodes with coolants, Shockwave made sure that his bondmate was comfortable. "If I'm not here and something happens, you'll need to be able to protect yourself. I won't always be here and a laser hand gun won't keep you safe from someone with a fusion cannon."

Shockwave had been right; a decacycle later, an attack was launched against the Iaconian Science Station. Perceptor and his partner in Shockwave's absence, Wheeljack, were forced to fight back-to-back against a group that called themselves "Decepticons."

Managing to blast their way out of the research labs, the pair stumble upon a group of defender almost a third taller than them. They readied to open fire on the mechs in front of them when Perceptor saw a set of faceplates that he recognized.

Shockwave stood in the center of the group, his left servo completely hidden beneath a fusion cannon, pointing it directly at Wheeljack.

Perceptor barely had a nanoclick to shed a tear of coolant before a large fist connected with his helm, knocking him out.

Shockwave?
