When Firion realizes that his dream isn't enough to keep him going, what will become of the treasure that he vowed to protect?
Firion walked through the field that lead the way to the Order's Sanctuary. He looked beaten after an encounter with the Emperor that he escaped like a coward.
"Honest men have honest dreams."
These words were playing in his mind continuously. How could he face Cosmos and the other warriors after losing his faith? Speaking of the goddess... He felt betrayed by her. Of course he should not expect her coming every time to save him. He was her warrior after all, her second champion and yet... The warrior skidded to a stop as he felt the water on his feet. His deep thinking made the man not realize that he arrived at his destination.
At the center, sat Cosmos on her throne with the Warrior of Light beside her, standing proudly with his sword and shield in hands. Somehow, they have not noticed the arrival of the man and Firion stared at him. Their leader. He felt a negative emotion flowing through him, something that made him angry and sad.
You are jealous of him.
What?
You are jealous of him.
But why? Firion did not understand. How could he be jealous of his own comrade? He paid no mind to his dark thoughts as he continued to greet his friends. Friends... One of the many that shared the battlefield with him.
"Firion, sit. We need to treat your wounds immediately." The goddess stood as she sat the man down on her throne. Her hand was glowing a warm light that healed his cuts, bruises and other wounds. He kept silent during the whole process, a behavior that did not go unnoticed.
"What's on your mind?" Cosmos asked as she finished her healing.
Firion could not answer, he did not have the courage to do it. When the woman was about to ask again he let the words out of his mouth.
"It is not enough. My dream isn't enough." The warrior looked at the ground, refusing to meet their faces.
" Your resolution is not better nor worse. It reflects your soul and heart. Do not be ashamed of it. " The sentence came from the warrior before him.
He felt even smaller by his presence. But he knew... He knew that as much he wanted to believe in his words, in the end, destiny would prove him wrong once again.
And then Firion realized why he was feeling jealous. Warrior of Light had something that he never would.
A never ending will. A light that will never fade. An endless determination.
And why? Because he was the most honest man that he knew. He had all those virtues and what Firion had?
He only had a wild rose.
A/N: That's it. My very first fanfiction. I'm so happy and so scared. Anyway, I want to improve my writing so leave me a review with your opinion as I learn how to deal with this writer's block. Stay tuned for my next story. I forgot to put the disclaimer... Well, I'll just put it here. I do not own Dissidia, that's Square Enix creation.
