By the time Adelaide awoke, PJ was long gone, probably off at work or doing grocery shopping. Taking her time to get out of bed, Adelaide made her way to the shower to wash up.
Once she was got out and dried herself off, she realized she had no clean clothes to change into. With a sigh Adelaide went back into the bedroom, to raid PJ's drawers. "I really need to get some more clothes." She mumbled, pulling out a shirt and boxers. She closed up the drawers one by one, but stopped when she got to the last one. She pulled out a bright purple tie, and held it up to the light. It looked familiar, like she had seen it before.
5 MONTHS EARLIER
It was a loud night at the bar Palm Waves. A group of college kids were celebrating some guy's twenty-first birthday, and another group of bachelors were celebrating one of their own being taken off the market. However to the girl at the bar they were just background noise. The name of this girl was Adelaide, and tonight she was wearing jean shorts, a shirt advertising some software company, and a brown leather jacket. Her hair had returned to its normal blonde color, only traces of pink dye left. The only time she looked away from her drink was when the door opened, and in walked a guy dressed in semi-formal attire.
The only thing Adelaide took note of besides his undeniably attractive features was his purple tie. It was one one of those unique ones, the type you gave as a gag Christmas present to someone who didn't wear ties anyway. Maybe he got stood up on a date or something.
Before Adelaide could think further on the matter, he say down next to her, and ordered a drink. He didn't even acknowledge her until she tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hey cutie, you got a name?" Adelaide flirted, giving him a sultry look.
He told her that his name was Paul, or PJ. They talked for quite a while, and to Adelaide's disappointment he shot down all her advances on him. Still, he was fun to chat to. As the evening went on, more glasses were emptied and stories were exchanged. 11:15 rolled around quickly and PJ realized he should head home, and Adelaide agreed that she should do the same. They paid their tabs and went their separate ways, probably to never see each other again.
PRESENT TIME
Adelaide realized she had been staring at a tie for five whole minutes, and was still barely dressed. Deciding that it was just a weird pattern and nothing more, Adelaide threw the purple tie back in the drawer, and got dressed.
