"Don't run in the house!" Amon ignored his mother and ran up the stairs with his new friend following closely behind. "Dad! Look I finally made a friend!" Amon shouted when he found his father in his study.

"Thats nice son, why don't you boys go out and play."

"Okay dad!" The boys ran back down the stairs and out the front door ignoring Amon's mother again.

"Wheres the fire?" Amon's mother said to her husband when she brougt him his tea.

"The boys gotta new friend."

"Oh how exciting!"

"I guess."

"Can't you be happy for him? He is 8 years old and he has never had a friend before!"

"Jun! Im working here! Im happy for him! But please let me get some work done so I can continue to put food on the table.

"Just look at your son for a minute, he's happy." Jun pointed to the window.

He looked up from his scrolls and gazed out the window Jun put her arms around her husband and they watched the children play.

"Amon watch this!" His friend showed him the new earthbending move he just learned.

"He's a bender!" Amon Senior shouted. "Amon! Come Here!"

Amon looked up to the window and saw that look on his fathers face. He ran back inside and up the stairs to his fathers study.

"Yes father?"

"What did I tell you about benders?"

"But father!"

"What did I tell you!"

"I dont have anyother friends, I just want one friend."

"We live in poverty because of benders."

"Dad please"

"Your grandfather suffered because of them! He couldn't even provide us a home, he had to travel all over the Earth kingdom just to put food on the table."

"Okay father I'll ask him to leave." Amon went out side to say goodbye to his friend.

"Your wrong about benders!" Jun shouted

"Go back to the kitchen" Senior returned to his work.

The next day at school was like any other day for Amon, he sat alone in class, ate by himself at lunch and sat in the corner at recess and watched all of his classmates play and imagining what it would be like to have a friend, and ended the day walking by himself back to his family's unsucessful Cabbage farm.
