"So, Russell Thorpe seems nice," Rufus stated.
"It's not only his disloyalty or his deviousness, it's his pomposity-" Lily shot back irritated.
"And the fact that you slept with him."
She certainly wasn't expecting that one.
"How did you-?" she asked in disbelief.
"I remembered where I heard the name…from the lists we exchanged…"
"Well, it was a long time ago…and fleeting…"
"And just when you thought you'd avoided a scandal."
They sat in silence for moment. Lily sipped on her red whine, lost in thought.
"Rufus…"
"Lil…"
They both said in unison.
"Ladies first," offered Rufus.
"Rufus, I just want you to know that I—I've slept with a lot of men and unfortunately we may run into them once in a while. However, that's in the past. And there's only one thing in my past that matters: You. You are my past, Rufus. You're my present. And without a doubt, you're my future. Understand me? Nothing changes that, got it? I love you and only you."
"You're so cute, Lil. I was just going to ask you if you'd like to do some scandalous things in the bedroom with me, but it's good to know how much you love me. I love you too, baby."
Lily began laughing and pulled Rufus close, thrusting her lips upon his.
Taking a breath she asked, "What kind of scandalous things did you have in mind, my darling?"
"Well, let's just say it involves a little bit of whip cream and a lot of exercise." He winked.
"Certainly sounds scandalous."
And intertwining hands, they made their way to the bedroom.
