It was just another sunny Caribbean day. The Black Pearl, in all her glory sailed the open sea, her Captain in his quarters. As the ship rocked due to the gentle waves of the ocean, Jack Sparrow lay, sprawled out in his bed. The room was set into a reddish glow due to the sun that filtered through his windows and his crimson curtains.

It was the perfect time of day. That time of day when Jack could take time to himself. He didn't have to be witty, cunning, lying Jack. Here, he could just lay and think.

And oh, what things he thought.

A sailor would be dumbfounded at all the things that went through the captains head during that hour. But at that moment, Jack thought about one thing that everyone dreamed of.

Freedom.

Aye, and such a wonderful thing it be.

Just a month ago, he'd been searching unsuccessfully for his beloved. His girl. His ship. He'd gone through every thing and even met, as he'd like to call him, the great Devil himself.

And what a devil he was. He stole all I was from me.

The slightly waterlogged cogs began to turn slowly in his head as he vividly relived the past month and what it meant for him. What did he do?

I fought. That's what I did. I fought tooth and nail down to the very end…..but for what? A ship?

Jack knew she wasn't just a ship, she was his ship, but why couldn't he just go and find another ship?

Because this was my father's ship. He answered himself, eyes closed. Because he gave it to me and shoved me away. Taunted me endlessly that I would never make it. That I would lose it all. Freedom. The Ship. Everything.

Jack's lip curved into a smug smile. Well, ole' man? What do you think now? I fought. Not something' this pirate would do, of course, but I did. Maintained meh name. Showed you up, didn't I?

He thought even harder of the people who'd helped him along the well. Ah, Lizzy and Mr. Turner. What an odd pair.

"You need to find a girl mate! Or is it that you have but are otherwise incapable of wooing said strumpet…you're not a eunuch are you?"

A deep rumblings sound filled the room as Jack started to laugh. Ah, now that was memorable.

Jack's thoughts began to wonder from his amazing search and rescue mission of the Black Pearl, to his escape from Port Royal. He thought of how long before it would be before his next adventure.

"Captain!!"

Jack groaned and opened his eyes, noticing that it was dark. Aw bloody--

"Captain! We've arrived! We've got everything set up"

Jack groaned once more and rolled out of bed. Strapping his pistol to his belt and slipping into his jacket. Suddenly his lip twitched into an awful ironic smile.

Looks like my newest adventure will be starting sooner than expected.

And with that final thought, the Captain left his quarters, boarded a row boat, and proceeded out into the dark murky waters, heading for a terrifying strip of land. Casting a glance behind him, he watched as the ships lights began to go out one by one until finally it disappeared into the distance.

He smirked, holding onto his trusty compass. I'll be having that cloth. And I'll find that key. I really don't want to have to meat ole squishy face at all.

And with that thought, Jack rowed until he disappeared into the darkness of the Caribbean, starting up a chain of events that would change everything.
