Anakin sat in his room on his chair, staring intently at the paper on his desk. Plain and white and not at all fancy, he hoped the message itself would suffice. Padme will love this, he thought giddily. His mouth formed into a frown and he scrunched his eyebrows together as he tried to figure out how to give it to his girlfriend. You can't just give it to her, right?
He yawned. Writing poems are hard. I'll figure it out later, he thought tiredly. He changed into his pyjamas and went to bed.
Padme pulled her "Tattoine Plant Book" out of her locker. Class started in ten minutes, but she wanted to pick a good seat in the classroom.
As she slammed her locker door shut, she saw Anakin walking toward her, eyes darting around nervously. In his fidgety hands was a paper, creased from folds and crumpled.
What's he so nervous about? She wondered.
Anakin finally reached her. His eyes shifted to everywhere but Padme as he shoved the paper into her hands, mumbled "For you," and ran away.
Padme smoothed out the paper, puzzled.
On the paper was a poem:
You are so close, yet so far away,
A beautiful angel from above.
What we wish we were is all but a dream,
Forever trapped in forbidden love.
Padme hugged the paper to her chest. "That is adorable," she whispered to herself. And she ran quickly down the halls as the bell rang to start class.
