Chapter 1
Cassia was instructed to kill a band of rebels and, thus, she was doing that.
When she had found one of the rebels, the rebel pleaded for his life, but it was in vain because Cassia had a mission and she knew that her father wouldn't accept failure.
It didn't take long for Cassia to find the home base of the rebels. And, once the rebels saw her, they began to use every weapon at their disposal to attack her, but they didn't count that her partner was there to protect her.
Her partner used his gun and perfectly managed to shoot at the rebels' shoulders which allowed Cassia to kill them with her sword.
When she was done, her partner came closer to her and said, "Your cheek is injured."
Her partner was going to use a potion, but Cassia told him, "It will heal in a few days. So, there's no need to use a potion. Instead, we should focus on returning."
Cassia began to walk away from the site with her partner following her.
The road that they used was not difficult because they had to battle daemons and the humans that would dare to attack them. But, it didn't matter because, in the end, they would die either by her, her partner, or both.
When she and her partner returned to the castle, they were covered in blood.
"I see that you have arrived and this time covered in more blood. But, that's not a problem if you've managed to complete the mission." Cassia's father said.
"The mission was a success." Cassia said.
"Splendid! Get rid of the blood and I'll assigned you to another mission." Cassia's father said.
"Yes." Cassia and her partner said in unison.
Cassia went to the shower room and, after taking a shower and changing her clothes, she went to the room where her father would be in when he would assign her and her partner missions. But, while she was walking to the room, Cassia looked at the window and saw that the outside world was like always covered in darkness.
When Cassia stopped looking at the window, she saw that her partner was a few feet away from her. Both of them got closer to each other and her partner said, "Your cheek is still injured."
"Don't worry about it." Cassia said, but her partner grabbed her hand and gently applied a potion on her cheek which healed her injury.
"My priority is to make sure that you're not injured." Her partner reminded her.
"If the injuries are life threatening. But, thank you." Cassia said.
Cassia could almost swear that she saw her partner smiling. But, she couldn't think too much about it and instead reminded him that both of them needed to head to the room.
When they both headed into the room, Cassia's father said, "You're late."
"Apologize, sir. Cassia was injured so I used a potion to heal her wound." Cassia's partner quickly said.
"Is that true?" Cassia's father asked Cassia.
"Yes, sir." Cassia said.
"Well, for next time don't make such useless stops." Cassia's father told Cassia's partner, then Cassia's father looked at Cassia, summons a sword and puts it close to Cassia's neck, "After all, I can always make another."
When Cassia's father put the sword away from Cassia's neck, he said, "There has been a tiny revolution group that has popped up in Tenebrae. You need to go there and exterminate that pesky group."
"Yes, sir." Both Cassia and her partner said.
Cassia and her partner left the castle and headed out to Tenebrae.
While they were traveling to Tenebrae, they encountered a horde of daemons which they managed to kill, but Cassia notices that her partner got injured during the fight.
"Where did you get injured?" Cassia asked her partner.
"The wrist." Her partner responded.
Cassia knew that, due to him being an MT, it would be useless to use a potion on him.
"From now on, you stay behind me until the mission is finished." Cassia told him.
"But, I-" Cassia interrupted her partner by saying, "That's an order."
Begrudgingly, her partner nodded.
"Don't worry when we get back you'll get fix and it will be the same as always." Cassia told him.
"Understood." Her partner said.
Sometimes, Cassia couldn't understand why her partner seemed to act more human than MT. But, then again, he looked more human than MT.
He had blue eyes, light freckles, and short blond hair. Plus, he looked like a man in his late 20's. While Cassia had amber eyes, no freckles, and long auburn hair. Additionally, she looked like a woman in her early 20's.
Anyways, they concentrated on the mission they had to accomplish and they managed to reach Tenebrae.
Tenebrae, like always, was infested with daemons and the few people living there would hide when they would see Cassia and her partner.
Yet, Cassia couldn't understand why anyone would like to start a rebellion from here.
Cassia and her partner inspected every inch until they found the base or rather what was left of it because the daemons had already had their feast before they arrived and the daemons weren't happy that they were interrupted.
Soon, Cassia and her partners started to fight against the daemons, but, while they were fighting, Cassia got hit in the stomach and a red light enveloped her body.
At first Cassia, thought that it was some sort of spell, but the light was… Warm and protective. Cassia began to see that her surroundings were vanishing before her eyes.
Cassia closed her eyes and, when she opened them, she saw that she was in some sort of room which was adorned with gold, toys, a luxurious bed and a mirror.
"Pryna, Umbra come here!" The voice of a little girl.
Despite the fact that Cassia was hurt, she managed to hide herself behind the toys.
Cassia heard a girl, and two dogs who entered the room.
Cassia knew that in situations like this it was better to remain silent.
Yet, the dogs managed to smell her.
"What's wrong?" The girl asked her dogs who were sniffing at the toys.
The girl slowly walked towards her toys and managed to see that some were tainted.
Carefully, the girl picked up some of her toys and saw that another girl, who looked identical to her, was covered in blood while putting pressure in a wound in her stomach.
"Mom! Ravus! Help!" The girl screamed.
Then, the girl looked at Cassia and told her, "Don't worry, everything's going to be fine. You're going to get help."
Cassia heard that someone entered the room and said something, but Cassia didn't hear it because she was unconscious.
